alcohol and caffeine?

Yes...we should abstain from harmful substances...no matter the religion. A Christian especially should follow what the Bible says about that; Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are (1 Corinthians 3:16-17). Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price, therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
Any substance that alters the mind, or body should be considered as defiling the temple of God: Illicit/illegal drugs, legal drugs, alcohol, caffeine, and tobacco. There are other things, such as unhealthy food, or overeating which harm the body as well...the list goes on. Body piercings, and tatoos also could go on the list of defiling the temple.

Strictly my opinion -- but based on my understanding of the Word of God... Any use of any addictive substances work to destroy one's body. Thus, all use of alcohol, stimulants, or mood altering drugs are a sin from the standpoint of the damage it does to one's body (the temple of the Holy Spirit) and the lowering of one's intellectual defenses it causes -- even in moderation.

As for the damage part -- biological science has proven that even one drop of alcohol kills brain cells. Granted, the smaller the amount of alcohol, the smaller the number of brain cells killed. But, even alcohol-based medicines do kill brain cells. Biological science has also proven that caffeine destroys the nerves.

Y'all can do what you want -- but the only thing I drink is water with a little lemon juice added for taste (about one tablespoon per quart of water). Even drinking a lot of fruit juices are not truly good for you. The concentrated sugars (as compared to the natural fruit, bulb, or stalk) are not good for you.

God bless.

Used in moderation. Noah got drunk and was rebuked for it. We should not get drunk and we should not get addicted to caffeine.

let me clarify I am just talking about alcohol and caffeine the others are illegal and we must follow the law.

The Bible says not to do things to alter your mind. So in my opinion you should abstain from all illegal drugs. Coffee doesn't really alter your mind, it just gives you energy. And I believe its alright to have a glass of wine or a beer occasionally, but you should not get drunk.

Everyone should! But as for alcohol and caffeine, I know a very nice Reverend who drinks coffee... I don't know whether she drinks alcohol.

if anything material masters you, it shouldn't be. you cannot serve both God and material.

that isn't to say you can't take drugs for medical reasons or drink caffiene to stay awake and alert or just because you like it, go ahead there is no law forbidding caffiene. but the law of God warns against anything that is addictive, because then you depend on it moreso than you depend on God, and therefor becomes and idol.

Jesus drank wine (remember the wedding). Many people at that time also smoked. There is nothing wrong with alcohol as long as it's taken in moderation.

cell phones and electric lines and man made things are more harmful.. and christians can pick and choose what they want and go by it, like they do with the bible.. why save your body if you ruin the world.. i guess it is important to save your soul then if its all you got and you got to leave the ruined world.. surley god doesnt want us to treat it like the his original plan, the garden..
