He was also excommunicated. Mussolini was an atheist. Stalin was an atheist. Himmler was an occultist. Franco was Catholic. The KKK is Protestant. Tojo was shintoist. what religion was Mao? What about Pol Pot? Is it possible that these men had things in common besides their views on religion?

I understand Hitler's mother was a Catholic. Presumably he was baptized as a child.

I don't think any child is "born" having a religion. It is weird to call a little kid a Christian or a Muslim or whatever when they are too young to know what it is about. I agree with Richard Dawkins on this: the kid is a child of Christian parents or a child of Muslim parents, or whatever. His own religion is for him to decide when he is old enough.

As to all those villains and their religions, do remember that there are good and bad in every group. I don't think the religion can be held responsible for each and every members' behavior throughout their lives.

As to the KKK, don't hold all of Protestantism responsible for them. Many Protestants are very nice people, and of course many of them are not white.

The men that you mentioned were all dictators. Religion is really not a concern to them and the reason for this is because these men cared about expanding their land. And why, because the simple fact is that Land and resources is what can make a countries economy boom.

Didn't Hitler turn around the German Economy when he started invading and occupying places like Poland, France, ETC? Well of course.

Dictators and Despots use religion as a tool because it is soo easy to accomplish a great many horrible atrocities. However, Hitler had his people sold on Nationalism alone. In other words he made the German people believe that they had some divine destiny and that everyone who was not German, did not matter.

I think that it would be safe to say that Nationalism killed more people in the 20th Century than religion did in the 20 th century. Nazi Germany, The Russian Gulags, etc. killed people that were not with them.

Nationalism, in my opinion, is much more scary than religion. The reason why is because Atheists, Christians, Jews, Muslims, Agnostics, etc can all buy into Nationalism very easily.

Hitler was born Catholic but he never considered himself one. After his father died, he stopped attending Mass. He did believe in Jesus, even talks about him in Mein Kampf. Hitler detested pagans but tolerated them as there were some Nazis who were pagans. I don't know if he was excommunicated. Stalin was an atheist, raised Russian Orthodox. The KKK is mostly filled with Baptists in the South though it is aligned with some Protestants. Mao was probably raised Buddhist or Shinto maybe Taoist. There are rumor he was an atheist but I'm not sure about that. What would they have in common? Evil men are common in every facet of life.

Yes, but as you know, he was excommunicated. Mussolini was actually Agnostic, I think. I don't know about Stallin or the rest. Mao was PROBABLY Buddhist, since he was asian. Most of them are. Hitler & Co. were all a big ol' discrace to their faith. So, there you go. Peace.

Mao and Pol Pot were atheists (they were also avowed Communists).

Just because they belonged to a certain faith doesn't make religion evil.

What about Truman who dropped atomic bombs in Japan killing millions of innocent people? What about George Bush who causes the death of a million civilians in Iraq?

No he was born not knowing what God is. The only thing he was born knowing was "put tit in mouth".
