Wouldn't that be the next logical step?

I'm not even saying that's a bad idea, I'm just wondering if you've thought about it.

1) Do you know any Catholics personally, other than those here on R&S?

2) On what do you base your judgment of Catholicism? (Cite specific sources, please: "My pastor," "The book (fill in the title)", etc.

3) Have you ever listened to what Catholics here have told you about the Faith? If so, why do you reject what they have told you?

Thanks in advance. I'll be interested in the answers.

Mormons claim that Jesus was not from heaven, but was a man that became a god

and we can do the same thing, point out to me any mormon memebers if i am wrong so far

In Mormon theology there are three Priesthoods: the Aaronic Priesthood which is an appendent to the Melchizdek Priesthood, the Melchizedek Priesthood, and the Patriarchal Priesthood.

The bible indicates that there is only one such person who may be given the title Melchizedek:

Hebrews: 7-11:16

And what we have said is even more clear if another priest like Melchizedek appears, 16one who has become a priest not on the basis of a regulation as to his ancestry but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life. For it is declared:
"You are a priest forever,
in the order of Melchizedek."[a]

Mormons offer the same title of priesthood. That from then on is reserved for Jesus alone,

whatsmore, freemasonry offers the same rank to level 19 initiates,

Is this how you become gods yourselves?

I've often wondered at the inadequacies that gnaw at us constantly. It would seem that we feel heavily our insecurities and do not trust our own capabilities.

I think people find security in boundaries; it would seem that mankind has the inborn need to know his limits. In all facets of life, we defer to others: we have bosses and governors, and presidents, and ministers...all the way up to God.

It would seem that these superiors are there as required checks, a hold on the idea of our own selves being our guiding lights. We abdicate our independence and also our responsibility. We can claim innocence when we can claim a superior--we can also claim forgiveness, merely for the asking, without restoration or redress of grievances.

What do you think? Are we so unsure of ourselves and unwilling to be responsible for ourselves that we set in place superiors to provide boundaries and absolution? If we were our own God and master, would we also fairly mete out our own justice?

Watchtower 1/15/06, pg 25 "Instead of being motivated by “the spirit of the world,” we are led by God’s spirit, which produces in us such qualities as love and self-control. (Galatians 5:22, 23)"

Watchtower 5/15/06, pg 22 "What these observers overlook is that the Witnesses manifest such qualities as love, peace, kindness, goodness, mildness, and self-control because they are led by God’s holy spirit. (Galatians 5:22-25) This should add credibility to their message."

What is the differance between being "inspired" by God and "led" by him? Just exactly how does that work?

A few minutes ago, a million fundies crawled out of the woodwork with their anti-catholic "Call No Man Father" routine. Do I have to correct these people constantly?

Perhaps the most pointed New Testament reference to the theology of the spiritual fatherhood of priests is Paul’s statement, "I do not write this to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel" (1 Cor. 4:14–15).

If there is a Christian God, and He relies on Christians to spread the Gospel to those who haven't heard, what would that same Christian God do if Christianity disappeared from the face of the earth. No Christians, No Gospel Message. Would He then be forced to "show" Himself?

A simple "For" or "Against" will suffice, or a "Yes" or a "No"...

Or, are many of you so addicted to THIS forum that you simply could NOT abstain from it for 24 hours???

Again, a simple "For" or "Against". Please, NO need for Religious Rants. Let's "keep it simple", Yes?
