When a questioner asked about obvious contradictions in the Bible, one Christian wrote, "They're not contradictions. It takes the Spirit of God to reveal His message to you."

Okay, correct me if I'm wrong, but are you people saying that the premise for understanding the Bible is the reception of the Holy Spirit? So anyone who questions the validity of the Bible is either lying, or doesn't understand it? Doesn't that seem like a blatant cop-out answer?

How come wiccans consider themselves trads when they're not? not to be rude or anything but i thought wicca was the rede and karma and the threefold and trads were faith, universe and nature, and spirits. I agree with traditionalwitch.net, but i wanted to see other opinions as well to see if im right or wrong.

I'm kinda in a disconcernment time (not offically actually) for entering the religious life (nun). I'm a junior in college and pretty strong in my faith. Sometimes there is no doubt in my mind at all about becoming a nun, I love it and am so peacfull at the thought. Sometimes I don't think I will at all. When I think I wont I'm as peacfull at mind. Lately, when I 'know' I will be I also have the confident feeling as to which type of ministry I will be working in.

Is this normal for disconcernment?

I have decided to stop referring to myself as an atheist. Gives to much credit to the "theist" part.

I think I will use "realist" from now on. What do you think. Let's give the theist's back their word.

Let's take on a new word to define ourselves that expresses more what we are. "Realists"... Who else is in?

Or was that the only reason? Because it painted a different picture of Jesus and his teachings than the Bible we have now does?

In response to the new "Christophobe" a word that I think means 'anyone who disagrees with my opinion' I have come up with Realityphobe. This is someone who refuses to acknowledge that people of differing beliefs have a right to exist.

Do you think it will take off?

Have you ever just put everything down for a moment and thought about how big the universe is and how tiny we are in it, how none of the stuff that we are doing really matters our problems and schedules are not so important, I mean in space we are just one tiny little human race in the entire universe. It is really just a mind boggling thing to think about. Have you ever though about this?

Ok, did this question make you mad before you knew what I was going to say? This is an example of what it feels like to be an atheist in here. Making generalizations is ridiculous. Please, lets try to have a dialog without accusations and hatred, please.

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: - Hebrews 8:10.

It is a historical fact that all of the early pictures of Christ depicted him as black.

Jewish Historiam Josephus described Christ as being a dark skinned man.

Revelation 1:14-15 describes his hair as being like wool.
Daniel 7:9 Describes the Ancient of Days the same way.

Blacks are the only people on the planet who have hair like pure wool.

if non-Christian people are bound to hell, why did God allow people to be born in non-Christian countries?

is it so that He can send them to hell for not being Christians?

if so, then is God just playing with people's lives?

So many students are coming to youth group with us this week. We have 10 people joining us, all for God! He is so amazing and at first I was worried that it was too many people, but I believe that God really wants them to go. I hope that you are moved by God in your life too. God bless.

I have fallen away from the word, and I really want to get back in it. Yet, I feel that when I sit down to read, I don't feel connected. Even when I pray for God's presence, it is hard to focus because I feel I don't have a structure to my reading. Besides Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, can anyone give me guidance to where to start back?

Before the year 1054AD there was only one church, which was referred to as the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church consisting of the 5 patriarchs (Rome, Constantinople, Antioch, Jerusalem, and Alexandria). The Great Schism happened between the West (Church of Rome) and the East (Churches of the East) in the year 1054. The main reason for this schism was a dispute with the filoque doctrine (the Holy Ghost proceding from the Father and the Son), which the churches of the east refuted and the Papal Supremacy doctrine (the Patriarch of Rome having full and supreme jurisdiction over the Church of Rome and the Churches of the East). The Church of Rome considers the churches of the east(Orthodox Church) to be schismatics. The Orthodox Church considers the Church of Rome to be schismatic. I'm trying to search for the truth. Both sides trace their lineage of bishops directly to the Twelve Apostles, then to Jesus Christ, the founder, the one true God made man
