I have decided to stop referring to myself as an atheist. Gives to much credit to the "theist" part.
I think I will use "realist" from now on. What do you think. Let's give the theist's back their word.
Let's take on a new word to define ourselves that expresses more what we are. "Realists"... Who else is in?

Maybe. But I love saying the word atheist and seeing the expression on the other persons face. It's always different depending on the person... Hehe.

I have said for a while that atheists should find a new name. The word atheist sends people into apoplectic fits. Realist is good, but I am not sure its the best one. I like naturalist, but that implies that you are involved with nature study. (Which I am), I can accept realist for right now.

I think "realist" was taken by the artists. If you want to be unique, just stop calling yourself anything at all. That'll show those crazy religious nuts and the other atheists!

How about just "faithless"? that has a nice sound to it...
btw, whoever suggested naturalist... isn't that a bit too easy to confuse with naturist?

Personally, I prefer "rationalist"
I guess that means we could call the other folks "irrationalists"

Personally, I'm tired of labels. My ways are governed by reason and compassion, not myth and dogma. Call me what you will - I am what I choose to be.
