From what I've read/learned, the word "God" or "Jesus" (I can't recall exactly which one) itself is not allowed to be written/put down onto paper in a way that could be potentially destroyed. For example, it's wrong to destroy a Bible because God's name is printed throughout. A superstition of sorts, I guess. But if true, then wouldn't the word "God," when typed on a computer, be regarded as a sort of contemptuous speech about God.

Am I wrong about this/confused about this? And if so, please clarify, and if not, please answer. Because where does all of this digital recording go anyway. I understand that it is saved (no pun intended) for a particular period of time, but then it is all eventually erased, unless purposely backed up, which I doubt open forums like this are?

I am wrong/confused?

Since the internet was born, there seems to be some conflicting definitions, as if it can be claimed by one group of thought (funny since thats so much like religion, ie: Christianity). But I was wondering what YOURS is, no wiki or text pastes here, please.

if you consider Jesus your god, and say that he sacrificed his life on the cross, and all your sins are repented, then

whom do you worship (something not existing)?
if Jesus is god, then, for whom did he sacrifice his life (i mean which supreme authority, as he was god himself)?
to whom you people will be accountable for your deeds, if there is no god now and your sins have been repented.??

serious answers.

So I just asked a question about Atheist burial procedures. And for the most part you folks agreed with what I said, but there was a few Atheists that were in conflict with other Atheists, why is this? Most agreed no headstone is required and the others want one. I guess what iam trying to say is that for the ones that want one, you guys are not purist Atheist. Am I wrong? Remember we are inert matter. Iam not a fundie. :)

Just wondering if there was any sexual intimacy between Adam and Eve's progeny -- or was it simply a duty to perform even though there was something unkosher about the whole business.

It is exactly what the question said, how we, human beings, appeared on this earth? By evolution like what other animals did? Or something more?

Please answer according to what your religion teached you about this matter.

I just think Atheism is too pop-culture

Agnostism is rooted in science

What do you think?

No offense but I'm 100% Catholic and believe (bastardized) Eastern influence is sending a vast majority of us to hell....

by that i mean home decor, music, clothing etc.

If other traditions of faith can hold certain individuals in such a light as sainthood, why can't Neo-Pagans?

Are there not any people within our circles who could be recognized as having attained a certain level of holiness? After all, we as Pagans consider everyone to be potential Clergy, all Priests and Priestesses in the making. Why not potential saints? Do we not have anyone within our ranks who has genuinely lived in a state of perfect love and perfect trust in regards to his or her beliefs about Divinity and the Universe which surrounds us? Do we not hold any individuals to be exemplars of our faith who should be commemorated or venerated as an inspiration to other Pagans?

*Why spread The Bible KNOWINGLY that people won't believe and therefore damning them to Hell? Where is the Christian love for ALL humanity?

Non extraterrestrial believing Christians:

* Why don't you believe in Extraterrestrials? Why would the whole entire universe full with worlds be without life except Earth?

Extraterrestrial believing Christians:

*Why does Jesus give salvation to only man kind and not animal kind or alien kind?

*Would you still believe in Christianity even if no alien we came in contact with knew about Jesus? If Jesus is God or Son Of God shouldn't he be known to all?

* If there are other planets we can live on, what will happen to humans on other planets when Jesus returns? Only Earth would suffer and not other livable planets?

* Why do you believe the bible before you believe something that is PROVEN? If the bible said pigs can fly or that donkeys can talk, would you believe the bible?

Please answer these questions because any spam would be reported.

Back in my days as a flight-deck firefighter, when our ship's helicopter was on rescue missions, we had to stand around in our gear in case of a crash. There was usually very little to do, so we told stories. One I heard was about a rescue swimmer. She had to pull a family out of the water from a capsized boat, but by the time the chopper got there, it appeared everyone had drowned except the mother, who was for that reason shedding her life vest and trying to drown herself. The swimmer dove in to rescue her, but she kicked and screamed and yelled to let her die. She even gave the swimmer a whopping black eye. But the swimmer said to hell with that, I'm bringing you in! And she did, enduring her curses and blows all the way.

Later, the woman who had beaten the crap out of her rescuer apologized and thanked her for saving her against her will. Everyone in my group agreed the rescue swimmer had done the right thing, and we all would have done the same--because that is what a loving, caring being does. It follows that if God is a loving being, he will do no less for us. In the real world, kind people don't act like some stubborn, pouting God who abandons the drowning simply because they don't want to be helped. They act like this rescue swimmer. They act like us.

I'm Mormon, have been all my life. I truly believe in the Bible and the Book of Mormon.

However, I'm tired of paying my tithing. I understand the scriptural references regarding tithing and the necessity of a tithe . . .

. . . But, I simply feel that "purchasing" my way through a religion is not something I want to take part in. In essence, if I don't "pay", I can't "partake". I'll be cut off from the temple, I'll be restricted in my callings (participation) and will be commanded and lectured on my need to "repent".

I'd like to continue to participate in this religion and pay my tithing when I feel I need to and want to. Any suggestions?

I was considering the experience of the Children of Israel when they left Egpyt which in most christian circles we know typifies the World. Then they came across the Red Sea which we realize also typifies Water Baptism. But between the Red Sea and the Good Land there was this Wilderness Experience.
In the Wilderness many things happened. But what I want to zero in on is that for the 40 years that they were there going in circles they were fed the manna each day. The manna came with the dew.
Back in Egypt the diet of the children of Israel was for that of garlic and other egyptian foods. But in the Wilderness all they were given was manna with dew.
My consideration was that their diet was gradually being adjusted by the Lord before they entered the Good land.
There is a lot of spiritual significance for us as believers. We are saved, baptised but there is much of the world in us. I believe that feeding of the Lord as the manna will flavour us according to Christ- The Good Land.

Jesus often spoke in parables that were deeply rich with meaning that many of His listeners could grasp as farmers, fisherman, merchants, or shepherds. He also used current events, historical events, Old Testament stories, etc.

Do you know of any modern-day Gospel analogies?
Analogies from current news events, current hot debates, or popular movies?

Can you come up with a completely new Gospel analogy, on the spot?

How about analogy for a child? A physicist? An artist?

Are you able to share the Gospel using concepts and words in your profession?

As it is written: “Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.” Colossians 4:6

For something is SERIOUSLY wrong...when non-Christians do not see Christianity as a message from God that is good – a message of hope, a message of love, a message of grace, a message of freedom!

So...please share, and give others a fresh view on this GOOD news!
