From what I've read/learned, the word "God" or "Jesus" (I can't recall exactly which one) itself is not allowed to be written/put down onto paper in a way that could be potentially destroyed. For example, it's wrong to destroy a Bible because God's name is printed throughout. A superstition of sorts, I guess. But if true, then wouldn't the word "God," when typed on a computer, be regarded as a sort of contemptuous speech about God.
Am I wrong about this/confused about this? And if so, please clarify, and if not, please answer. Because where does all of this digital recording go anyway. I understand that it is saved (no pun intended) for a particular period of time, but then it is all eventually erased, unless purposely backed up, which I doubt open forums like this are?
I am wrong/confused?

This is a Jewish practice and most Jews I speak to do type G-D rather than God.
It is not a biblical practice, though it is based upon the biblical command not to take God's name in vain. It is an effort to show a high respect and regard for the name of the Lord and it is one of those man made laws created to go to the extreme of making sure that the command of God is not broken.
Most Christians do not follow htis practice - there is no point and writing or typing 'God' and throwing it away or deleting it is not what God meant by taking His name in vain.
It is the word God as most Jews do not hold Jesus in any high regard. It is possible that some Messianic Jews / Christians do not write Jesus or Yeshua for the same reasons but I cannot say that I have ever seen that.

The Internet can be a powerful teaching tool and can reach people who might not otherwise look for God elsewhere. I've never heard of this issue before but wouldn't that also apply to writing the word "God" in any printed matter that might be later discarded, recycled, or burned? I think He wants us to more concerned with how we treat each other and how we come to accept and forge a relationship with Him. I don't think God gets tripped up in such semantics.

As I understand it, the Jewish don't allow the word "God" to be written, and I think to them Jesus is a prophet only, but I think it's different for the group "Jews for Jesus". But for Catholics and Christians it's ok to write the word "God". I never heard anything about destroying a bible before.
I never heard about anything on the net being erased either, ever.

you are wrong. you are confused.
anyone who told you that is Christian doctrine, is a superstitious idol worshipper. we treat the bible with respect because we believe it is the Word of God. but i've fallen off a boat with a bible, had my bible blown out of my hand when someone opened a window in a fast-moving car, and slipped on ice and had my bible fall down into a sewer grating. am i being sacreligious? (ok, clumsy) does it mean i have no respect or love for God? (alright! i said i was a klutz!)
and anytime, anywhere, the name of God is written - in ink or digitally...it is a blessing and He hears.
God wants our hearts, not silly, legalistic behavior...

I vote for confused.
And I'm an atheist too. One of the advantages is we don't have to give a rat's *** about whether somebody else is superstitious. Burn a bible, delete the word God. It doesn't actually matter or mean anything.

Words are only symbols of reality, they are not reality itself. So destroying the word 'god' doesn't destroy God. It's wrong to destroy a Bible, but not because you might destroy God in the process.... but rather it is utter bigotry to destroy knowledge just because you don't agree with it.

Never heard that before. If it can't be written, how are the Bibles? One more thing...the Bible is not the book, it's what's written, the non-tangibles. I don't think there's anything holy about the paper, it's what's on the paper that counts.

You must have heard this from a weird source. I am a Christian and I agree that the Bible should not be torn or defaced, but not because it says the word "God," but because in my beliefs, the Bible is God's word and we should respect it.

In the jewish religion I believe you can't write the NAME (i.e Yahweh, YHWH, YHVH, JHWH or JHVH) of god (cause, yeah, like he's really going to mind!) but 'god' itself is not a problem. AFAIK.
People misunderstand (like they do in religions) and started writing g-d and other such rubbish, as if it was the only god ever made up by mankind.

Ironically, since things can go on forever on the internet, it's closer to creating an infinity. I still find sites put up by people who have quoted me and posted it online in the early 90s.
