I don't. While speaking in tongues is mentioned in the Bible (as we see in the book of Acts) it is designed solely to spread God's word, not edify the Christian...and yet you see so many freaks running around chanting and babbling...clearly, not of God. Moreover, Paul is clear: "Hey, if someone is speaking in tongues, there MUST be someone there to interpret...otherwise this is NOT of God."
So, unless the Holy Spirit wants me to speak in tongues at a specific moment in time, I see this stuff going on as nothing more than a Lunatic, Fanatical wing of Christianity.

There is a present of tongues , and no every person does not acquire the "present" However the proof of the indwelling of the Holy Ghost is talking in tongues. It used to be prophesied within the Book of Joel and it happened within the 2d ebook of Acts at the day of Pentecost. This is the one proof of being born of the Spirit. Remember Jesus mentioned to Nicodemus "besides a person be born of the water and of the Spirit he are not able to input into or see the Kingdom of God." This is the non secular rebirth. You are not able to do it in your possess. It is because the Spirit of God offers utterance. Paul mentioned what he mentioned for the reason that he knew the significance of being stuffed with Gods Spirit. This is how you realize, something else is a bet. This occurs while a character is surely repentant.

My church believes in the gift of tongues....meaning when you're trying to share the gospel with people who speak a language you don't know, you'll be able to share the message.

We don't believe in rolling around on the floor and all that jazz...

In most cases when speaking about *tongues* in the Bible it is simply saying *other languages*, but it does refer to *murmurings* in at least one place... and I have spoken in *tongues* murmurings only known to God, but ONLY in private worship..... I do not knock those who do believe in *speaking in tongues*, however I think caution should be taken ...... meaning even satan can take that route...... and does...... go in peace..... God bless

I do it and think it is divinely inspired by the Holy Ghost. one misconception people have is that all christians do it. This isn't true. Some christians have the evidence of speaking in tongues and some don't. It's not something that is required but is a gift if you do have it.

I personally do not believe this. God does not speak through us in tongues. He does speak to us through prayer, miracles, earth, nature, animals eceterra... but never through another person and I pity anybody who believes such bull.

My family used to believe much the same as Kiker. Then my sister attended the local Christian school that just happened to be Pentecostal. One day students around her were all praying in tongues but she just told God something along the lines of, "I know they did that in the Bible, but its weird." Then she realized she had the wrong attitude, repented, and was given the gift of tounges on the spot. My church still doesn't accept it but my family all has, although no one else in my family has gained this gift.
