valid reasons... why should i believe in God in the first place for that matter?

2007-11-22 11:03:23 · 20 answers · asked by Anonymous

...and that does not require "faith" to deem it true?

You constantly use "arguments" to prove us Atheists "wrong", such as "You cannot see air but you know it exists" or "Everything can't come from nothing" (ignoring the fact that even gods fall into the word 'everything')....

Most of your arguments can be countered with scientific arguments or alternative explanations; you only back them with "faith", circular reasoning* and a book...

* "God exists because the Bible says so, and God wrote the Bible, because the Bible says so.."

Is there ever really a singular point?
And what about arriving where we started and knowing the place for the first time?
Can we ever escape returning to the scene of the crime? Hmmm....karma?
How can we return...yet not return?

I mean, when you read passages like this, what do you think to yourself?

Numbers 22:28-30, NAS
28 And the Lord opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?” 29 Then Balaam said to the donkey, “Because you have made a mockery of me! If there had been a sword in my hand, I would have killed you by now.” 30 And the donkey said to Balaam, “Am I not your donkey on which you have ridden all your life to this day? Have I ever been accustomed to do so to you?” And he said, “No.”

It is only the Abrahamic religions that attack each other for worshipping the same god differently.

"Oh this sect is not biblical".

Or

"This sect believes in evolution".

"This sect allows gays to worship god, Oh heaven forbid!"

Do you know how it makes Christianity look to the rest of the world? Islam too.

When you have a religion that claims to be the "only way", your mreligion will cast judgment on everyone else.

Is God so narrow minded and bigoted?

If laws are passed for religious reasons, then shouldn't there be laws controlling how religion should be practiced and which religions are allowed? You know, just so no bad laws come from some "wrong" beliefs.

Since the Bible was completed. Please read Revelation 22: 18-19, teaches that the we are not to add or diminish the word of God.

Today, God speaks to us from His Word alone and its entirety.

God warns us that in the last days false prophests will come with signs and wonders. Please read Matthew 24.

We see that God has abandoned the churches and congregations in May 21 1988, according to our modern calendar. Who is ruling the churches is Satan, please read Matthew 24: 15-16. No wonder that today like never before people in the churches are enjoying these signs of Speaking in tongues, visions, dreams, apparations, etecetera, did you know that the phenomenon of speaking in tongues today is coming from Satan and not from God?

My dad went to a Presbyterian Church when he was a kid. His dad and mom were both Baptized and his dad (my Grandpa), got to put th first shovel in the ground for the Cornerstone of the Church. My dad's a Christian, but he's never been Baptized. He doesn't go to the Baptist Church where my mom goes and I go to. We go with my grandma. My mom got Baptized at 8. I just got Baptized and I'm in my teens. I just want my dad to go to Church. When I ask him why he doesn't go, he says he's too busy. I say you shouldn't be too busy for God. He then goes and gets mad if I say anymore and wants to go drink beer. And sometimes does, that's why I don't play that trick with him. How can I get him to go to Church. My mom just says let go and let God. Thanks!!

My husband and I have argued about this....are you still married after death? I say no because what happens if a widower re-marry....then do they have two, three husbands after death?? We are allowed to re-marry when a spouse dies because the union has been cut, but...doesn't man and woman long for one another? I mean Adam was made and was in complete union with God. There was a close bond, but yet God knew Adam needed a woman. Thus woman was created, so wouldn't this still be the case in heaven? Wouldn't we still long for human companionship...are does in end after death???

Please respond if you believe in God, because I do believe in Him, thus I am seriously looking for answers from those that believe because this is something that I have wondered for a while, and I am very curious about what other people think that believe in life after death.

Never mind all the twisted logic, if you believe you believe, if you don't, you don't. If your beliefs happen not to be true then we face the consequences.

Anyway why does the idea of a God - a complex eternal being strike anyone as a logical answer to anything. It simply removes the question back into the realm of mystery. It is no more satisfactory then postulating that Star Wars is real.

The only logical position is agnosticism, nobody really KNOWS, one way or another.

In the meantime please stop pushing the technology of evolution in the form of GM food on a world unwilling to fall under the control of Monsanto.

America's problems with evolution stem from the split between the primitive Christianity of the Pilgrams and the Enlightenment inspired founders of the constitution, here in the UK no one cares a monkeys about evolution.. it's a dead issue. Only fundamentalist Muslims or primitive Christians care about it. Anyway there's loads of other theories that also make religion l

Rev. 7:9, 10, 17: “After these things [after the apostle John heard the number of those who would be “born again,” those who would make up spiritual Israel and would be with Christ in heaven; compare Romans 2:28, 29 and Galatians 3:26-29] I saw, and, look! a great crowd, which no man was able to number, out of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, dressed in white robes; and there were palm branches in their hands. And they keep on crying with a loud voice, saying: ‘Salvation we owe to our God, who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb.’ . . . ‘The Lamb [Jesus Christ], who is in the midst of the throne, will shepherd them, and will guide them to fountains of waters of life.’”

After listing many pre-Christian persons of faith, Hebrews 11:39, 40 says: “All these, although they had witness borne to them through their faith, did not get the fulfillment of the promise, as God foresaw something better for us
