It is only the Abrahamic religions that attack each other for worshipping the same god differently.

"Oh this sect is not biblical".

Or

"This sect believes in evolution".

"This sect allows gays to worship god, Oh heaven forbid!"

Do you know how it makes Christianity look to the rest of the world? Islam too.

When you have a religion that claims to be the "only way", your mreligion will cast judgment on everyone else.

Is God so narrow minded and bigoted?

Did you ever see one Buddhist claim that another Buddhist was not a 'true' Buddhist?

I know. It makes me shudder to see people giving God such a bad name.

God is the author of every religion on earth (speaking to the hearts of "prophets"... like you and me).

Unfortunately, many people's egos can't handle the truth (or at least, not at first - and that includes me)... When they have a small portion of it, they insist that there is nothing else, simply because their own portion feels like such a great blessing, and they don't understand that other people's spiritual experiences are made of the same stuff. Buddhists aren't immune to that kind of closed-mindedness.

Everyone tends to stick with what feels safe and known... what is easily comprehensible to them.

But just imagine... if we just kept on learning... letting new stuff in... mulling it over until it begins to make our hearts and minds
e x p a n d....

If we never stopped learning beautiful spiritual truths, imagine then how blessed we would feel!

If religion and science are separate then stop using religion to explain things that science already explains. Edit: Not when religious folk decide to say how old there Earth is, tell people climate change isn't happening, and evolution is false. That is all Science. And btw why does there even need to be a why? Can't you live just to live? Edit2: There is no evidence supporting the claims of his existence. Every modern theory in science has more evidence than God has.

Vietnamese killed each other (OK there was atheism involved, but they were doing it before communism). Pol Pot was raised in Buddhist surroundings and killed millions of his countrymen. Different Buddhist sects (yes there are radically different ones) fight with each other--sad, just like Christians attacking each other over "definitions."

Something you see a lot of here is the strange tendency that some theists have to believe that they can out-guess other theists about what their particular deity REALLY thinks.

It seems that inside many sheep there's a (usually lousy) shepherd trying to get out.

This sort of thing inevitably leads to schisms, it seems to me. And the thing about another sect of essentially the same religion is that they're just like you, except for their sinful habit of . So you can really hate their guts.

Comes up several times a day here in R&S.

Well, in history, There are one buddhist denomination (Japanese) which put emphasis on one particular sutra and denounced all other sutras which create an uproar in the buddhist.

Atheists do attack each other, the fact is, other then the disbelief in supreme creature, they can have nothing in common.

Yes, atheists attack each other.
Do you know the difference between an objectivist and a communist?
Both are atheists, but have very conflicting view points.

I don't get 'attacked' persa by other atheist. Mainly because I decided that talking to other atheist about how I really believe we come back after we die, is just asking to be told that my beliefs are stupid.

Atheist vary in style and thought...

I do find that I get attacked by christians, because once I tell them that I am atheist, their goal is try to alter my 'confusion'.

I don't get that rearranging from atheist...
