I mean, when you read passages like this, what do you think to yourself?

Numbers 22:28-30, NAS
28 And the Lord opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?” 29 Then Balaam said to the donkey, “Because you have made a mockery of me! If there had been a sword in my hand, I would have killed you by now.” 30 And the donkey said to Balaam, “Am I not your donkey on which you have ridden all your life to this day? Have I ever been accustomed to do so to you?” And he said, “No.”

Did you read the rest of the story? Or the verses ahead of it? I think that God wanted to get Balaam's attention, since Balaam was obviously not listening to God in the first place. The rest of the story shows how Balaam was heading for certain destruction had he gone on with his plan.

As for "ridiculous crap", and "mythology", that's a bit harsh, don't you think? After all, this is a one-time event in Biblical history, and the apostle Peter didn't think it was ridiculous--he quoted or alluded to this incident, 2 Peter 2:15-16.

So for your question as to what do I think for myself? I think God will get your attention one way or another. Why not read more of the Bible for yourself? You may find other things that are even more interesting.

The passage that you asking about is a parable. It is about the inhumane treatment of animals like dog fighting, mass whale killings, starving animals, beating animals and the like. How can we be ashamed when in the Bible is sending us a message in such a miraculous way. You see, if you are not a Christian that the keys to understand are not given to you. That makes sense because you would not listen and think it child play. It is possible that donkeys did speak as in the Garden of Eden that the snake walked, and today there are remnants of legs under the snakes. Thank you for sharing those verses, now I see that animal treatment is important to God and we are held guardians of them.

I think how ashamed of the ridiculious crap in your mythology of asking? If your Bible isn't feeding you and you don't get the answers. Then I would find a place of worship that offered more understanding. By the ways read futher down in verses 30-34. You just might comprehend what it is relating, instead of taking it out of context, unless you are one who doesn't believe. If you told me you had a brain am i to believe it when I can't see it? Now aren't you ashamed of your ridiculious crap?

Brother Bot,

I would look to what the Jesus Freak said, if you cross-referenced Balaam, you would understand what the problem was and why the dumb~a** was speaking.

I think to myself, if nothing is intrinsically impossible for God, than it wouldn't be intrinsically impossible to open the mouth of a donkey and let Him speak.

God created us from the dust of the earth, turned water into wine, moved oceans, talked through burning bushes and whirlwinds. When you consider God's infinite power, than you will understand God's infinite power.

Do you believe in collective guilt, that of the group to which you belong? Or do you believe you are only guilty for your own errors?

Why would anyone chose to feel ashamed of statements, actions, or beliefs for which they are not responsible?....and perhaps not even knowledgeable.?

I'm not ashamed at all of the things that are in my religion.

Everything in the Bible is the word of God.

I think Balaam's *** is a pretty neat situation. I mean, here at YA we have so many talking asses who don't believe in God, it's nice to see that there was one who did believe in God.

when I read this I think: "good thing God cared enough about him and his donkey to show him the error in his ways" Try to think positive, if you go in thinking negative you won't see the positive at all
