Do animals go to heavan? And if they don't go to heavan, where do they go?

A few months ago my church (Baptist) decided to have a free movie night for the community. The movie was Facing the Giants.
We wanted to invite the people in our surrounding neighborhood to fellowship and find out the needs in our community.
Myself and others went door to door inviting and explaining what we were doing.

Some flat out refused stating that they were Catholics.

I told them it's wasn't about what religion we were it was about bringing the community together. They still refused.

One thing I am proud of in my church is although we are Baptist, we don't announce we are Baptist, we are Christians.

So why would the Catholic's refuse?

If the question doesn't apply to you, why in the world would you bother to answer it? If it doesn't apply to you, try this: rather than answering a question that has nothing to do with you personally, then acting like an indignant nit, DON'T ANSWER. If it does apply to you, feel free to be as indignant as you please. .lol
Does that sound like it would work?

Do you feel obligated to give them biblical evidence to the contrary?

OT:
The Lord is a man of war.
He is a jealous and angry god.
Fear the Lord.
He wants you to kill your enemies.
He demands burnt offerings and blood sacrifices.

Vs.

NT:
God is Love.
There is no fear in Love.
There is no jealousy in Love.

.....and yet he still intends to cast innocent unbelievers in the lake of fire.

Leviticus 11
Clean and Unclean Animals
1And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying to them, 2"Speak to the people of Israel, saying,(A) These are the living things that you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth. 3Whatever parts the hoof and is cloven-footed and chews the cud, among the animals, you may eat. 4Nevertheless, among those that chew the cud or part the hoof, you shall not eat these: The camel, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you. 5And the(B) rock badger, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you. 6And the hare, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you. 7And the pig, because it parts the hoof and is cloven-footed but does not chew the cud,(C) is unclean to you. 8You shall not eat any of their flesh, and you shall not touch their carcasses; they are unclean to you.

Okay....let's say you are a religious person and you believe that you are a moral person. Or we can even say you are an atheist, and you believe you are a moral person. Are you kind? Do you have empathy for others who are not just like you or maybe more unfortunate than you are? Do you have a conscience that you pay attention to? Do you allow yourself to do harm to others (when I say "harm" I don't mean physical harm, I mean to hurt or abuse someone verbally) because you think they aren't as important as you are or do not follow the same path that you do?

A family friend got into a really bad car/truck accident, and survived without any injuries. The child's mother said that God saved him, but the little girl asked, "Didn't God make him get into the accident in the first place?"

This is the same kid who asks questions like "Why did Dodo birds ever exist if they were going to become extinct?" and "Why did people make Dodo birds extinct?" She was so upset about the Dodo birds being extinct.

I sometimes dream that I am in Muhammad’s presence, and that my heart is beating like thunder and that my knees are quaking and my stomach is churning. There is a peculiar sense of familiarity in the air.

I first thought that this was Satan, tempting me with lustful thoughts, so I followed the Prophet’s (PBUI) advice about bad dreams ( http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-APqgCAM1eqDGbnn99_Bb5c32jlLE ). But they persist, especially when I spend prolonged periods reading from the Qur’an. Is this dream from Allah, do you think, or from Satan?

And what does it mean?

Thank you so much, and love and peace and mercy in Allah.

The Koran teaches the Muslims to stay to themselves and not mingle with the infidels, Jews and the Americans or anyone who is not Muslim. The Koran teaches that if an infideI continues to force you to befriend them you have a right to kill them. have seen children being taught hate and stating that we are pigs and should die. The Koran repeats over and over and over that god is a mercyful and all forgiving, haven't read much about loving though. I am not nearly through reading it so I can only comment on what I have read so far. How can a mercyful god teach a child to be so violent? Not being critical I just do not understand. I know the god of the old testament did some pretty cruel stuff, so I can't judge. Seems like they both were cut from the same cloth.

I can't count the number of times I've heard people quote Ephesians 2:8

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God."

While I believe this is true doctrine, I also believe what James 2:20 says:

"But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead."

In other words, Christ alone has power to save. Nothing we do of ourselves can bring us salvation without the blood of Christ. But just confessing that Jesus is the Christ cannot be enough. We must show him we love and follow him by the things we do (keep the commandments, etc.).

Matthew also says:

"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven"

That is what "works" are to me--doing the will of the Father. Why does so much of Christianity have a problem with the concept of works?

If so, how do we know that the ancient Egyptian and Sumarian accounts of the gods aren't true? They've been around a lot longer, and much of the bible comes directly from their accounts.

If you want proof, do the research yourself. I'm not a pastor. You don't pay me to think for you.

I'm curious, but how many Christians commit incest? If God only created Adam and Eve, then the Flood with Noah and his family, then populating the planet, and repopulating the planet would require vast amounts of incest.

Theory: Inter-racial intercourse and marriage is a sin, god seperated us all to our own lands with our own languages because of the Tower of Babel, so by learning a foreign language, would one be sinning? And to raise a child of mixed background, to create unification of the races, even though God had us all cast our seperate ways, would that too count as a sin?

I'm just asking, I was reading through, and I tried to apply logic to the Bible, and these questions, which no one, I might add, has been able to answer to my satisfactory.

Alot of Pastors seem to teach that self esteam is a sin. I remember one radio pastor who said, "Do you have to love yourself first before you can love other people? No, you don't."
It seems to be the additude with alot of born agains. They think little of themselves. The opposite of self esteam is depression and suicide.

Has the canon (i.e. the lists of the books of the Bible) been fixed for the Orthodox Church? Or are there multiple canons?

What are the books of the canon(s)?

How do the Orthodox know? Do they appeal to some pre-Schism council? A post-Schism council? Something else?

I have heard that the Slavonic Bible differs slightly from the Greek Orthodox Bible, but wish to have more information. I would prefer a person NOT merely copy and paste what Wikipedia has on the issue, because I am particularly interested in the Orthodox position on any councils which may have determined the canon (and Wikipedia lacks that - it merely gives an alleged list of the Greek Orthodox and Slavonic canons).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So we know religious views i.e. its bad, you'll go to hell etc.
Im just curious about the views on suicide of the non-religious (atheist, agnostic, undecided etc.).
Do you see it as a mental illness, a failure of society or freedom of choice?
Thanks

Is there something somewhere in the bible about fighting as opposed to fleeing? Like, facing your temptation in order to overcome?

I just wonder because every now and then I'll read or hear (not here) something where a person has stated "I'm a Christian" or "We're a Christian family" within a comment on something. And it's obvious they are using it as a way of ensuring "we're a good, decent family" as opposed to someone who should not be trusted with their words. Which from this angle kind of insinuates that they are better then the rest of us.

To you is someone saying the opposite, "I'm not a Christian," saying they are bad people?
