I sometimes dream that I am in Muhammad’s presence, and that my heart is beating like thunder and that my knees are quaking and my stomach is churning. There is a peculiar sense of familiarity in the air.

I first thought that this was Satan, tempting me with lustful thoughts, so I followed the Prophet’s (PBUI) advice about bad dreams ( http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-APqgCAM1eqDGbnn99_Bb5c32jlLE ). But they persist, especially when I spend prolonged periods reading from the Qur’an. Is this dream from Allah, do you think, or from Satan?

And what does it mean?

Thank you so much, and love and peace and mercy in Allah.

I'm Jewish, but I'll try to help:

I find that I often dream about whatever occupied my thoughts during the day. As an Imam, I assume that your thoughts are primarily occupied with interpreting and teaching the Qu'ran. So, to me it's natural that you would dream of Muhammad often. Perhaps you "fear" that you are doing something wrong in your studies, or that you're not devoting enough time or attention to study or teaching? Or perhaps you're just showing respect for your beliefs, or acknowledging how "small" you are compared to Muhammad.

Asalamo Alaykum Never heard Or read as you wrote. What i read is: Imam bukhari used to do Istikhara and in dreams Imam Bukhari was able to get the positive or negative responses / indications. And i know personaly a pious Muslim brother who very frequently see Beloved Prophet Muhammad pbuh in his dreams and also communication through dream is possible for those pious Muslims who have spent their lives in obedience of Allah Subhana Wa Ta'laa. Secondly: There isn't a single hadith that divert us from Allah, Beloved Prophet Muhammad pbuh and Righteousness. Technically, a Muslim can never be a munker-e-hadith. Love for Allah and his Rasool is unconditional. :) 9:24 Say, [O Muhammad], "If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your relatives, wealth which you have obtained, commerce wherein you fear decline, and dwellings with which you are pleased are more beloved to you than Allah and His Messenger and jihad in His cause, then wait until Allah executes His command. And Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people." Edit: So, your solution to sectrainism is rejection of Ahadith outright?

I think you are right. This dream is from Allah, who IS Satan.

Muhammad also thought he was possessed, but his wife talked him out of it. Was he right and she was a temptress?

What if you discover that everything you know is WRONG?

The Holy Spirit is calling you to examine what you think you know, and to find the truth. God is trying to tell you something.

Please, take Muhammad's advice and study the Gospel. As an Imam, you are undoubtedly prepared to understand what the message is and to accept the consequences of the implications it will reveal.

I have studied both the Koran/Hadith, and the Judeo-Christian scripture. I recognise this person of Allah from the Bible, but although he spoke to Jesus, he never spoke to Abraham or moses. You figure it out.

Peace be with you and I hope you find the right path.

If you are really a muslim, I feel sorry for you for being in such a repressive culture. I'm not talking about the Q'ran, but the muslim culture tnat represses women, calls for the death of infidels , gives 100 lashes to a RAPE VICTIM(Saudi Arabia), and wants to kill someone for writing a book or drawing a cartoon. How can you preach peace and love and condone killing "infidels". Does "gender neutral" mean castrated or just confused?

Did you ever consider that it might simply be a meaningless dream?

I dreamed once that I liberated a very large crate of bread from a international gang of professional smugglers. It was really good bread, too. I didn't wake up thinking I needed to become a baker.
