Leviticus 11
Clean and Unclean Animals
1And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying to them, 2"Speak to the people of Israel, saying,(A) These are the living things that you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth. 3Whatever parts the hoof and is cloven-footed and chews the cud, among the animals, you may eat. 4Nevertheless, among those that chew the cud or part the hoof, you shall not eat these: The camel, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you. 5And the(B) rock badger, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you. 6And the hare, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you. 7And the pig, because it parts the hoof and is cloven-footed but does not chew the cud,(C) is unclean to you. 8You shall not eat any of their flesh, and you shall not touch their carcasses; they are unclean to you.

Very good Question.

TRUE Christians DO obey Leviticus 11. They also obey ALL 10 Commandments.

John wrote in 1 John the following:
1 John 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
1 John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1 John 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
1 John 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
1 John 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
2 John 1:6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

Also John wrote in Revelation:
Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

As Christians (one that follow and do what Jesus the Christ taught and did) we shall obey his teachings from the very beginning. Read John 1. we find out that the one that became Jesus was the Word in the beginning and He created everything that is. He is the Lord God that interface with mankind.

So if you want to be a true Christian, obey his teachings now.

We are freed from continuing the motions of the law, because Christ is the completion of what the law symbolized. However, we are to continue with the law in spirit, and it should be natural now that Christ is within us. 'Unclean' is the focus of food laws. 'Unclean' is still an issue for mankind. The OT laws were like a seed. People, potential believers the fertile ground. And the plant that springs out of the seed is the NT. Now - clean and unclean is what comes from the heart. Christ still wants us 'clean' but we live today with what the law symbolized ... spiritual truth. If a person is weak, and needs to go trough the motions of the old law, we are told to let it be. The law was imparted on man as a punishment for refusal to believe. Through Christ - we are freed from that 'punishment'. We are to live in the spirit now, not the physical. Therefore - what is unclean is what comes out of your mouth, not what goes in it. There is still clean and unclean. That has not changed.

you DO know that the passages you cited are jewish dietary laws from before Christ, don't you? that was when there was a covenant of law...Christ brought a new covenant...a covenant of grace-we are not bound by the myriad rules and regulations practiced by the jews in the old testament...Christ said that it is not what goes into a man's mouth that makes him unclean, but what comes out...and God told peter that nothing that He made clean can be unclean...indeed, He showed peter every kind of animal in the world and told peter to eat

Acts 10

Peter's Vision

9About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray. 10He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. 11He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. 12It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air. 13Then a voice told him, "Get up, Peter. Kill and eat."

14"Surely not, Lord!" Peter replied. "I have never eaten anything impure or unclean."

15The voice spoke to him a second time, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean."

16This happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.

Christians do not live under the
LAW. Christians live in the
dispensation of GRACE.
(unmerited favor). We can
either eat or not eat pork.
I personally don't think it's that good, except I like a ham
sandwich or ham and beans.
Many modern day preachers
try to put their congregations
back under the Law, but they
are teaching error.

I'm an Atheist but being a former Christian. I learned that it is not what enters your mouth that makes you, it is what goes out of your mouth. I as a Christian have only to obey the new testament and the teachings of Jesus, so old laws are not my concern or the concern of any Christian. So nothing that is materialistic like food or drink is forbidden in Christianity.

Some Christians are going to say that Jesus freed them from those laws. They will also say silly things like Jesus "fulfilled" the laws (you can obey or disobey laws), or that the laws came to an end (what part of "eternal" don't they understand?). However, the fact is: those laws never applied to them in the first place. Those laws were given to the Jews, as a part of their eternal covenant with G-d.

The answer is, G-d's commandments never applied to Gentiles only to Jews.

Gentiles have 7 specific laws to follow called the 7 Noachide laws. Keeping kosher isn't one of them.

So, it never applied to Christians or anyone else except Jews.

The apostle Paul told the Corinthian Gentiles it was legal for them to eat food which Jews would have considered an abomination.

He said: “Whatsoever is sold in the shambles [meatmarkets], that eat, asking no question for conscience sake” (1 Corinthians 10:25).

This was contrary to the Dietary Laws of the Old Testament. Gentile markets did not subscribe to kosher regulations.

They did not kill animals the way Jews were required to do. They used the same knives, cleavers, blocks, and other implements to kill rabbits, pigs, octopus, as they did to kill cattle, goats, and sheep.

To the Jews, who kept the Dietary Laws, all Gentile meatmarkets were unclean (tameh).

But Paul said Christians could go ahead and eat meat though it was butchered and sold in Gentile markets. Paul even went so far as to say:

“I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean [common] of itself; but to him that esteems anything to be unclean [common], to him it is unclean [common].”

Romans 14:14

Paul said this teaching came from the Lord Himself. Christ said, “there is nothing from without a man that entering into him can defile him” (Mark 7:15). One thing for certain, Paul did not subject his Gentile converts to any ceremonial taboos concerning food. Indeed, he told them plainly: “All things indeed are pure [clean]” (Romans 14:20).

When Paul said “all things ... are pure,” what was he talking about? His subject was food

You should read the Bible account of Acts chapter 10 verses 1-15, Also Acts 15:28&29. Christians are no longer under the law code, Christ's death did away with the law - Hebrews 10:1-10.
