ISLAM is the religion every person is born with. It teaches you to identify the creator behind all that you see as nature around you as well can't see with your naked eye. ISLAM teaches you to respect every creation of ALLAH, contrary to what people like to make of it, ISLAM has rights for even the minutest of insect human eyes are incapable of seeing. Besides, it is the only religion which gives rights to women even in areas which are considered to be male terriitory otherwise. For eg:- ISLAM says SEX is a women's right, is'nt that quite different from what is normally propogated about islamic values pertaining to women. If she has been asked to coverup herself from head to toe, men have been asked to lower their gaze when interacting with women who are not in blood relation or wife. It is the only religion which draws a line of how far a man can go if he happens to raise his hand on his wife, I know a lot of people make noise about it but I would love to know the stand of religions who don't mention anything in that regard. Don't we have cases of wife beating in them? ISLAM is the only religion which talks about life after death and the proceedings of the DAY OF JUDGEMENT, the details about HELL and HEAVEN and a sketch of the punishments that will be given on that DAY, thereby creating a motivation in the minds of the believers to adopt a path of righteousness in this worldly life. Then OFCOURSE! The sunnah of PROPHET MUHAMMAD(P.B.U.H) which was quitely borrowed by the modern world in the name of ettiquettes. I'll give you an example, that one should not enter another person's room without permission was taught by PROPHET MUHAMMAD(P.B.U.H). That one should not blow his/her breath in the glass while drinking as it could be a good communicator of germs, circumcision as a complusory element for a believer and today we have doctors saying that it can be a major help in preventing one from aids. I could just go on and on, ISLAM is majorly different from what some people with vested interests have sketched it out to be. If you really want to know what ISLAM is go ahead and read the biography of PROPHET MUHAMMAD(P.B.U.H), HE(P.B.U.H) is QURAAN personified.

I don't think Islam is any better or worse than most other religions. However, if you want to learn some positive things about Islam, take a look at its history during the Early Middle Ages.
Islamic cultures, inspired by contacts with Greek, Indian and Chinese culture, made great progress in math and science, and preserved a lot of ancient history and literature which had been completely lost in the West. During the Later Middle Ages these works re-entered Western culture through contact with Muslims, and this spurred the West into its "Renaissance," or "re-awakening."

To claim that Islam is "better" than other religions isn't any "better" than claiming it's worse. Look at its teachings, and its adherents. Islam is getting a bad rap lately because of the horrid behavior of some of its followers, and the inaction of the rest of its followers to stop the sociopathic behavior of the crazies. It would be the same if it were any other religion, too.

Thankfully, some people are finally doing scholarly research on Islam and the origins of the Koran.
I don't think you will like their findings.

We cannot well judge a person's thoughts, but we can evaluate a person's behavior. I lived three years in Thailand, six years in Indonesia, and 1.5 years in Iraq, and I can honestly say that I met in those countries many Buddhists and Mulims who acted more like ideal Christians than many self-proclaimed Christians I've met. What I am saying is that the positive things I have seen can be found in the way they behave, and 95% of them seemed to have behaved very well under very adverse circumstances. My gut tells me that terrorist Muslims have behaved very badly for reasons that have very little to do with the religion they claim to follow....but do not.

Do you live inside a dark room and believe whatever someone tells you from the other end of a dark corridor?
People are not mad.
People don't say things unless there is a reason.
What you say is called denial (in psychology)
Are you proving your goodness to your religion?
Have you seen anyone going to heaven with their bodies?
If all these great things are in heaven, why do people leave their body behind when they die?
How can you enjoy anything that requires a body, if you leave your body behind when you die?
Are you able to think?

i wouldn't say its better than other religions, but diffinitly the most missunderstood one! islam is always against killing and violence but the way its portraited in the media is like a religion that promotes violence and killings that is so wrong.
and yeah... one of ur answers said that we cant have a dog, and all...yes its true that women should be covered, we shouldnt drink alcohole and all.. about that i prsonaly believe that time has changed and we have a brain and can decide if these things suit us or not there r many muslims who dont do these things but that doesnt affect any one else ...does it?
