I'm curious, but how many Christians commit incest? If God only created Adam and Eve, then the Flood with Noah and his family, then populating the planet, and repopulating the planet would require vast amounts of incest.

Theory: Inter-racial intercourse and marriage is a sin, god seperated us all to our own lands with our own languages because of the Tower of Babel, so by learning a foreign language, would one be sinning? And to raise a child of mixed background, to create unification of the races, even though God had us all cast our seperate ways, would that too count as a sin?

I'm just asking, I was reading through, and I tried to apply logic to the Bible, and these questions, which no one, I might add, has been able to answer to my satisfactory.

Ok, just so everyone knows, I do this to many topics. I am asking things for knowledge, and those of you who actually answer the questions are helpful. I ask these questions to get people to think, not flame. I like seeing other peoples' opinions, and the other person who asked a similar question was doing that with intent to infuriate, though my intent is to inform and be informed.

Wow... I must sincerely thank most of you, finally, people who THINK, then say. I greatly appreciate the answers many of you have given me, and now I'm going to be debating on who should get the best answer.

Thank you all from the seat of my spirit, the bottom of my heart.

When God created Adam and Eve they had perfect bodies.
Since they disobeyed God and received death, their bodies became a little less perfect. But because their bodies were still very close to the perfection they had in the Garden their children were only slightly less perfect. As time travelled on and the perfection of the human body grew less and less the mixing of similar genes caused problems in the offspring. God knew this was going to happen (naturally) so He made provision for it in the laws He handed down to Moses.

The inter-racial taboo in the Bible was for Jews not to mix with races that worshipped any other God but Him. If the person converted to Judiasm that person was accepted (see the story of Ruth. Although a Moabitess, she accepted the God of Naomi and married an Israelite. She is in the ancestry of Jesus)

Today the taboo God sets forth about being unequally yoked is also applied for religious reasons. If two people have different viewpoints concerning God and their faith it causes much problems and confuses the children.

Uh, actually, this might seem a bit of a toughie, but the answer altogether is no; the only reason that incest was okay near the BEGINNING of the world (if you read, it's in Genesis; but you may already know that) is because the world had to be populated; Adam and Eve came from the same flesh, but still had to help to populate the world; other examples of incest in the bible indicate the same need (as you may or may not know, in Genesis 19:32-36, Lot and his family were the only ones to escape Sodom and Gomorrah, and his wife was turned into a pillar of salt for looking back as she left; so who would have been there to preserve his family line except his two virgin daughters?). Otherwise, it's extremely inexcusable, and in the old time punishable by death (i.e. Leviticus 18:6, Leviticus 20:12, Leviticus 20:14)

I'm not sure I can answer this entire question because there are many different issues addressed here. But one issue I can address is your reference to inter-racial marriage. I can show you from scripture where it is NOT a sin to do this. In Exodus Moses married a women who was most likely black. His sister Miriam complained about it and God struck her with leprosy. The dispersion after the tower of babel wasn't about separating the races and languages of the world. It was about the people spreading out over the land and taking dominion of the whole earth. Instead they decided to stay put in one place and began getting involved in idol worship. The Lord struck them in a way he knew would cause them division and that was through the language.

I don't believe any born again Christian can commit incest. The person might call themself a Christian, but is in a pre-salvation state. It is impossible for a child of God to abide in sin (make it a comfortable habit) because of the Holy Seed within (Holy Spirit convicts our spirit).

When naming sinful fornications & adulteries in the OT bible. Incest is listed early on. And life itself tells you there are more disabilities when pregnancy occurs because of incest. Learning different languages is good (not a sin). Raising a child of a different race (adoption) is good. Inter-racial marriage is good, as long as both are equally yoked together in Christ (two believers in the Lord Jesus Christ).

Christians are not under law, they are under grace. When we are saved by Grace, we love God much. Because God first loved us. So? When we love God, we trust & obey God. So? Incest is discusting & very abusive to children. Jesus said that those who offend the littles ones who believe in Him, it would be better if they were wrapped in weights & thrown into the sea. Jesus warns child abusers of hell fire.

During the time of Adam and Eve, this would have been the only way to populate the earth. At this time, people lived 900+ years, so the gene pool was relatively pure. The law about incest wasn't given until the time of Moses, which was many years later.

Inter-racial couples....
Numbers 12:1 And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman.

12:2 And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it.

12:3 (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)

12:4 And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out.

12:5 And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth.

12:6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.

12:7 My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house.

12:8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?

12:9 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed.

12:10 And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous.

I think with the speaking different launguges, you have to understand that the reson that it was change to seperate the people that were come together to build the tower...I'll give you this to further explain

Hope that helped. God has not a problem with inter racial relationships- Our way of thinking/learning is the problem.

Well, there have been incidents of incest in the Bible. Maybe the circumstances necessitated it? From what I understand, the principles of God never change, but practices may, depending on the needs of the day.

I'm not a Bible expert though.

It's very hard to determine what God wants. And what constitutes sin.

I just learned that oral sex was deemed a sin. Wha-? Why?

God stopped it in Leviticus and Deuteronomy.( the incest anyways) But Moses wife was An Ethiopian (Numbers12:1).

But God loves everyone besides that I don't know what to tell you about those two things.

I'm in a inter-racial relationship. God does not hate me nor my husband for being together.

unequally yoked means not to be with someone with different beliefs.

yes, Adam and Eve's sons and daughters did have to sleep together for the sake of population. genetics were different then. its changed with years and sin.

Interesting question, I think that there are some that take the bible to literlaly and interpit it to suit their own beliefs and way. We live in a very confusing world, and the bible can be interpited many different ways.
