It should be noted I don't think there is a right answer to my question because I left it too open.

Many religions exist and many of them have gods, some of which are male some of which are female.

Thanks for your responses though.

Neither.

Spirit creatures do not have a gender.

In every monotheistic religion I have come in contact with the "God" is neither completely male nor completely female. The "God" is an "all-being" having no gender, race or corporeal form (body) for that matter, with the exception of the Christian "Jesus" as a member of the holy trinity that is their "God". The majority of the religions believe that god is within everyone, and therefor is both genders, and at the same time neither. The scholars at the time of the writing of most religious texts were predominantly male, which may have been reflected in the gender-specific terminoligy used.

Really it doesn't matter, "God" is what you believe it to be, male or female. Noting anyone on here says or does can change a true belief.

Well, this is a complex question but to simplify it...

If you're basing your understanding on the Bible, then God is male. He made man according to His Image. (There is so much misunderstanding and misinterpreting of the Bible.)

Now, to really irk others on this site...there is evidence that God has a female counterpart...yes, a "wife" for lack of other term.

One day we will learn the truth of it all and be surprised to see how we were all right and we were all wrong in our attempts to define God. God is spirit. God has a flesh body. Both are true.

Please don't try to debate me. You understand what you choose to understand, and I do the same.

A word of caution for all of us: Don't believe everything you think.

Let's just wait and see what happens on the other side, okay?

What constitutes gender? Reproductive organs. I don't believe God has reproductive organs. He did have a son, but through spiritual means, not from having sex with anyone. He is an authority, he should be viewed as a powerful, masculine figure, not as a femaninity. He said he is father and creator, if her were neither he would have just said creator. Jesus (his son) - as said in the Bible, is God manifested in human flesh, and HE was male. I think that should answer your question properly.

People really don't understand...
God is a male. and, we are created 'in the likeness of
his own image' So he looks just like a human would.
Also, I would dare say he has a body of flesh and bone as we do... In the New Testament we learn Christ was ressurected, and his body was gone... meaning his body and spirit were again reunited, but now immortal. The Father is the same. They both have bodies.
...sorry, probably a little more than you were asking for.

Pagans have faith in a girl god or goddess to be greater maximum appropriate, regardless of the shown fact that it is not an analogous God in the bible. God in the bible has a male call, Jehovah, and is referance to as God the father, consequently the male reference. If He replaced into God the mum, then the reference would be She each and all of the time.

Both. Consider this passage, translated gender-neutral by using only the noun for God:

God created humankind in God's image,
In the image of God, God created them,
Male and female, God made them. (Gen. 1:27)

I think that god is neither male nor female because god is not just an entity" that exists in one place in particular but everwhere at once. In a manner of speaking god is all around us so when you think like that it seems impossible for god to be male or female.
