for anything you might want to buy, and I tried to tell it to you, you'd pay rapt attention, wouldn't you?
If I knew some medical procedure that would prolong your life by, say, 50 years, you'd want to know about it, wouldn't you?

So, why, when someone cares enough about you to try to tell you what they believe is the secret to eternal life, would you get offended??

I know they are fertility god/desses for the land/animals, I'm sure they would be who to ask for personal success on this level. But considering Freya has only one child and Freyr none...that I'm aware of...would it be under their "domain" for human procreation?

In other words is it a rejection of the gods that one has heard of or a rejection of the entire concept of a god?

Also, do atheists share a unity in belief/unbelief?

That the timing of the Christian celebration of the birth of Christ occurs in the Yule season is no coincidence. Christmas was once a movable feast, celebrated many different times during the year. The decision to establish December 25 as the "official" date of Christ's birth was made by Pope Julius I in the fourth century AD, hoping to replace the pagan celebration with the Christian one, since this date coincided with the pagan celebrations of Winter Solstice with the Return of the Sun Gods occurring throughout the world.

Numerous Christmas traditions derive from the earlier pagan celebrations. Yule, celebrating the birth or rebirth of a god of light, made use of fire, both in candles and the burning of a Yule log. The Christmas tree has its origins in the practice of bringing a live tree into the home so the wood spirits would have a place to keep warm during the cold winter months. Bells were hung in the limbs so you could tell when an appreciative spirit was present. Food and treats were hung on the branches for the spirits to eat and a five-pointed star, the pentagram, symbol of the five elements, was placed atop the tree.

Why Do Christians Insist on trying to "save" Atheists?
Is there a true reason other than that they want to score points with "the man upstairs" or do they just feel it's there duty to make people conform to their believes because of a lack of individuality. Can they not accept that people have their own views on religion that they deeply thought through in maturity rather than them most likely having their decision chose for them in infancy? May Iremind the Christians reading this that they are not the only religion that believes all others are lies and that the believers in them are going to Hell. So what makes yours any more correct than Islam or any other?
Both Atheist and Christians I would like to hear your opinions. Also I would like to hear how Jews and Muslims feel about Christians. After you make your comment please tell whether you are an atheist, christian, muslim etc.
Thank You and I look forward to your WELL THOUGH ANSWERS. No answers like "says so in bible" etc.

I see so many here bash Catholics, what if we have a Catholic president and they pushed for the Catholic version of Christianity to be taught. He feels that since its the only true church. Would Protestant be all right with that or would they cite freedom of religion?
(Not going to happen people but I'm curious)

Is the catholic religion part of christianity or is it two total different religions? Is catholic a denomination of christianity or something? I mean, they both believe in Jesus Christ, right?

Please clarify this..

i am a Christian. i've been one for almost 2 years. but, i have some problems...its about nonchristian music. i have a list of nonchristian songs that i really like:
"SOS"
"Deliah"
"Cold"
"Face Down"
"Colors"
"Wishes"
songs like that. i also listen to Christian bands, like:
Skillet
Hawk Nelson
Reliant K
Barlow Girl
Superchick
Toby Mac
Steller Cart
(thats only 1/3 of the Christian bands i listen to)
my problem is that i dont feel bad about listening to nonchristian songs, but should i? i don't like songs that sing about s3x, rape, murder, crap like that, but where do you think i should draw the line? i like the songs that say, do your best, help others, and of coarse, love. whats wrong with that? please answer, it would be nice to hear other Christians opinions. thanks.

The Sumerians wrote about the deities of their times long before the bible was written. They had two main ones on earth, they have the babel story, flood, garden of eden and how they created the man they called a lulu, or mixed up one. the other god was a friend to man. They claimed that they came done from heaven! before you answer this check them out , it will really open your eyes and mind. The first followers of Jesus, prayed to the friendly one and his spouse not the wrathful one!
