I know they are fertility god/desses for the land/animals, I'm sure they would be who to ask for personal success on this level. But considering Freya has only one child and Freyr none...that I'm aware of...would it be under their "domain" for human procreation?

BTW - this is a question that simply popped in my head about the gods and goddesses, I'm not looking for fertility answers, so don't bother, unless it's about Freya or Freyr. Thanks

I probably should have put "ask for ADVICE" as I didn't mean literally a gift of a child.

Either one would be suitable. Also one could look to Frigga as she had connection to motherhood.

For those who have a person al connection a particular deity that would really be the best place to start, even if fertility , children and the like were not things that were commonly asociated wtih them.

Someone that is a follower of Odin would seek there before looking to one of the other deities as the ties to Odin would be stronger and more likely to yield results.

The same can be said for those that follow any of the other deities.

ACtually if I am thinking correctly, Olaf's mother went to the mound to ask Freyr for help....damn my brain just went dead.
They are Vanir, the ones who sort of specialize in that sort of thing. Frigga would be a good one to go too, I would think.

Go with Boar. LOL He would know FAR more then me. I honestly do go to my ancestors for help with daily life. Actually for help with anything in general. I go to the gods for advice and I honor them for the gifts in my life. The gods come and call me far more then I call them. I don't ever stop and wonder what they are the gods of. I go to who feels right.

Freyr is the god to ask for fertility and prosperity, and Freya is the one to ask for good genetics and health for your child, so they actually go together.

The best way to offer to Freyr is to consecrate the act of love to him. A deer antler is a good talisman for Freyr.

For Freya, I find she appreciates and offering of chocolate cast into a fire.

It doesn't work like that.

The Northern godhs *aren't* the "god of this" or "goddess of that" in that compartmentalized, Bulfinch's 19th century bastardization of Greco-Roman mythology sort of way.

Freyr is the god of fertility, of harvest and feast, sower of crops, and so forth . . . but he is also the origin of *frith,* the communal bond of mutual protection, and the mightiest warrior of the Vanir.

Freyja, likewise, blesses the bower and bed with pleasure and sensuality . . . but is also leader of both the Valkyries and the Disr, and taught witchcraft to Odhinn and humankind alike.

Our godhs are *family* . . . our literal Elder Kin. When asking them for things, it doesn't MATTER what they're ostensibly the "god or goddess of."

It matters whether you've forged a relationship with them. Whether you're in the family or not. And remember, the code of the North is "a gift for a gift."

I think a more practical route would be to see a fertility doctor if you have problems.
