This is a tough one. I know that my faith teaches that you should bury and not cremate, and I don't like the idea of knowing that I am being burned, but then I have these issues:

1. Burial takes up a lot of space. In some cities, people are buried standing up. In some cemeteries, you are disinterred after 100 years and cremated or tossed in a mass grave.

2. Going to a cemetery and looking at your relatives' memorials is nice until you move far away and can't take it with you, or get too depressed going.

3. I like the idea of dividing the remains among the loved ones and making the jewelry out of the ashes that can be passed down. Imagine always having a part of that person with you.

Personally, I would like to get an expert taxidermist to stuff my relatives, and we could all be mounted in the house, LOL. I guess cremating them and having the ashes in an urn comes second. I like the idea of having it there. We had our pet privately cremated and my daughter keeps her in her room in a little cedar box. I have never regretted spending the money.

Cremation for sure.
Why?
Neat ,clean no wasted land that could be left as parkland, forest or a farm.
Fact is real estate for cemetaries is becoming too expensive for many "churches" .
They are allowing cremation as a way to capture market share.
Widely practiced & accepted by churches that had once condemned it as being an affront to god and the resurrection of the body.
Not religious , but if i were, I think it would be an act of faith.

If you are burnt ash,a rotted body in the grave, eaten by lions and pooped all over the Savannah, God has your DNA,and when the resurrection happens, you will be changed instantly whole in a new immortal body,in the "twinkling of an eye".
The way I figure it,no one is much going to visit me any more than I visit my parents .I know they aren't really there. They are in Heaven.I lean towards cremation because how cool to have one of your kids take a vial to Disneyland and sprinkle it as they fly around on the Matterhorn. Then take some to the ocean, the High Sierra's, etc etc. Won't do me any good ,but it will keep them busy.

I used to think it was just disgusting and unnatural. Then I saw some leaking mausoleums, and a former funeral director friend said he was all for cremation; better to rot in 3 hours than 30 years, dripping down a marble wall. Plus, where would we put everyone if we were all buried?

I had my kitty cremated, and I'm glad I did because she can always be with me. (our ground is too hard to bury in)

I don't like the idea of cremation because I'm alive right now and the thought of being burned isn't too appealing even though I won't feel it.
I prefer a nice and cozy mausoleum.

Cremation, yeap. The land is waisted on the dead, they really get no use out of it. Sure, our bodies would normally provide with soil with nutrients, but since the body is all boxed up, there's no real purpose for it anyway.

what is there to believe? You will get your body burned into ashes. And thats it.

(When I was younger)
My father has always told me he would have me cremated if I were to die. He told me it would be cheaper than a regular funeral! LOL

I didnt like that idea, because I felt alot of people would want to see me. Which they couldnt do if I was in a vase.
