In my religion, to be conservative is to dress properly, covered to your knees (preferably ankles) and elbows, and with your hair covered if you are married. Being conservative is to not be too 'friendly' with men you are not related to or married to--not touching them or anything. It also means to speak conservatively, and not to commit the sin of lashon hara (the bad tongue; basically, slander and gossip), not to pollute your body or mine (don't read magazines where people wear too revealing clothes, don't listen to music with questionable lyrics, don't watch t.v. shows that are too raunchy)

My religion is Judaism. However, I'm Orthodox. A Reform Jew's view may differ greatly from mine.

Peace

That can mean several things. The first describes someone who is very old fashioned in his beliefs. The most conservative section of Christianity in this sense would be Orthodox Catholic (unless the Opus Dei Sect of Roman Catholicism is considered, however, they are more of an insane cult only approved of by the pope because it brings in so much money then Christian). The second meaning would describe a person that is very strict. Many Fundamentalists, Evangelical, and "re-born" Christians fit this definition quite well. Many denominations of Catholicism do not, however, simply because they tend to be more lenient towards other forms of Christianity, while "re-born" Christians tend to be far more harsh.

There are some in the Asatru religion that feel the word "conservative" means Folkish - a viewpoint that ranges from extreme racism to the belief that each person should look into their own ethnic heritage for their spiritual path rather than "foreign" ones.

For example: someone of Scottish ancestry should look at Celtic paganism or Asatru (the Vikings mixed a lot in Scotland, England and Ireland). Someone of Italian descent should first look at reconstrustist Roman paganism. Extreme viewpoint: race is a major consideration in who should be Asatru.

To muslims it means no music. No other religion I have ever heard of bans MUSIC, yes, that's right, they can't even listen to MUSIC of any sort. There's a question about this on the ramadan board right now, see for yourself:
These are quotes by muslims from that page:

"Well, Musical instruments are said to be of the devil."

"No music is haraam [forbidden]in Islam. There are refrences in the Qur'an and Hadiths to support this."

"MUSIC IS HARAM IN ISLAM!"

"Did you know that Prophet Mohammed(SAW) said that it is better for a man to fill the inside of his body with pus than to fill it with poetry? "
***********

Shocking, just shocking. Here's from another open question in ramadan:

"Despite the clear prohibition of the use of musical instruments, great efforts are being made to “legalize” their use. "

"i watched sehri time during ramadan on QTV and mufti mohammed akmal said , "music is strictly forbidden in islam. "

"but it [music] is indeed not allowed in Islam."

To stand firm on moral issues...stand against gay rights, abortion etc.......Two cities were destroyed because of the wickedness that was in them.....people were exhibiting immoral habits etc. Sometimes our stand on these issues is misinterpreted. Christians hate sin. They do not hate sinners.
