I think your question is flawed. Religion teaches people to have reasons for what they do - their reasons. In trying to maintain order and purity of faith, organized religion dishes out rules by the dozens and (they hope) good reason to do as they say.

What is dangerous in government is when an elected official decides that his opinion is the right opinion and acts accordingly - rather than determining what the populous opinion is or the most beneficial course of action.

Peace!

Religion does not teach anything. The various tennets of religion do the teaching.

Despite popular beleif Only a handful of religions teach that and then only as an advertisement. Like "Join our religion. Our God says that nothing matters as long as you feel bad about it!"

Thats not what any religion really says. But it is how people like to interpret it and its a good way to get people to pay your church.

Yes this is very dangerous. You should listen to others and take their views into consideration just think where we would be if there were not rationalists that saw things for what they really are instead of what some book tells them.
By the way check out www.joyofsatan.org to find out more about what I believe I think you might find some very interesting things about the subject you just asked about on this site.

You've studied religion? Just the one or all of them? You really have to be careful when you make generalizations like this without getting all of your supporting evidence together first. That's how you get people to listen to you.

The Bible teaches otherwise,

"Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have."
