Even though I considered myself an atheist but for a time I prayed in circumstances of great stress. Does this mean I'm not really an atheist?

One of my coworkers also considers himself an atheist but he believes in ghosts and alien visitors. Is his faith incompatible with atheism?

then he is not as much abut evil towards us, as trying to trick us, and lie to us . the best lie is the one wich is most believable, what I am asking is who do you think changed the commandments of God, have they changed over time? what is the only commandment that deals with time? daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. It looks to me like this is a warning to keep the sabbath ( the last day of the week) exodus 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God... a lot of people say that we cant know what day is the last day of the week but if you look at a calendar you will see the last day of the week is saturday. websters dictionary
In ancient Jewish tradition Saturday is the sabbath.

Ever since a friend of mine died from the Tylenol poisonings in the early 80's. The day we buiried her, it became cystal clear to me as I looked at her 4 children, one was a WEEK old, that there is no God or if, by chance I am wrong, he is a sadistic bastard who does not deserve my love.

A question was asked this morning by newverson:
Why does God kill mothers of young children or young children of mothers with cancer who have not lived life?
Does God like to torture them.

Que Bella said: Because they don't need to stay around to see anymore of life on Earth so God lets them leave. Life here is not nearly as great as people like you might believe.

My reply: Well this is a new one. I have not heard that answer before. I have to admit, it makes no sense to me so I have no rebuttal.

I have recently read many ignorant answers from Christians (but not all) and have been a little bit disgusted, that does not mean there are not pearls among them, some are sincere and logical. And i am not talking about them, what i am talking about are the fanatics who use no rationale and make me question my faith and my own viewpoints. There are also athiests that are the same but they seem to me not trying to argue for athiesim rather for themselves, if that makes sense.Just asking other Christians if they have been upset of sharing a religion that promotes peace with people that use it to insult atheists

When one chooses to belong to God, the demons attack. I know for the fact that Bible verses are very powerful and can serve as shields against attacks of the dark side.

What Bible verses do you know for protection, happiness, abundance, peace of mind etc.???that you are willing to share....

I appreciate answers from true experience

firstly I am catholic.
I believe that the Catholic Church was the first group of Christians but I have a question about Catholic belief, apart from the Nicene Creed is there anything that is fundemental to believe.

do you have to believe all the church teaches, for example everyone agrees that there were "Worldly" Popes and that there were many mistakes in the past as now.

I dont believe that birth control is wrong, I think mandatory celibacy for priests is unbiblical (and traditionaly wrong).

Do you have to believe everything that the church teaches given that personal or Papal revelation can indeed be flawed from time to time.

The current pope was responsable for the protection of Children from the 1970s to 1990s which he failed at as we all know. I say that to show the failures that we all can have.

So really, do you have to believe every trinket they tell you or are they key truths and the rest is more "subjective"

I have been hurt and dissapointing by an extended family member today. I am feeling very sad and frustrated. Looking for a nice verse in my Bible to comfort and encourage me to look move forward?

Boiled down to it, homosexuals are the same as heterosexuals, except that they have sex with and carry on relationships with members of the same sex.

I'm not asking about promiscuity or diseases, neither of which is exclusive to homosexuality. I'm not asking about sex outside of marriage (which is ironic -- gays can only have sex outside of marriage because they aren't ALLOWED to marry). I'm asking about homosexuality in and of itself.

In YOUR OWN words, why is homosexuality wrong? Really think about it...not "it's just gross" or "it's wrong"...WHY? How is loving another human being WRONG? If it's because your god says so, or your god sees it as an abomination...WHY?

How would you say your mirror is doing? Mine is definitely old, warped and in need of serious cleaning but I am working on it. Might take years but it a worthwhile endeavor.

It has been a tradition(word of mouth)in the Catholic Church that Our Lord perspired blood on account of severe anxiety at the highest order(contemplating what was to befall him).
Has this condition been scientifically / medically proven possible for any human? This question might require an elaborate answer feel free to post your life away !

(I know not all Christians believe this. But this question is for those of you that believe gay people will be burning in hell for eternity.)

What about transgender people? Do you believe that a straight man trapped in a woman's body (who is therefore attracted to women while being physically female) will burn in hell? How about a lesbian trapped in a man's body (who is attracted to women while being physically male)? We're assuming here that they have not yet had hormone injections or sex-changes.

Even in the most sincere and well thought out appeals, especially here on Yahoo, if you ask many Christians a challenging, reasonable question, or make a point about some inconsistency, you are automatically "un-Christian" or "against Jesus" or "a friend of the devil" (these all all things I have been accused of for simply asking difficult questions, when I am a Christian! lol) I just think it is ironic behavior.
