He is? How can that be? When he was alive on earth-that would have only been 4000 years old.

But, let's face it---these Evangelicals have their own beliefs. Good-let them. But, please people----lay off the rest of us!!!!!!! We are more learned and sophisticated.

According to Jesus the world is 19,6 billion years old, Moses claimed that the world was 6000 years old, and we all know what Jesus said about Moses, don't you ?

John 1:17, John 3:14, John 6:32, John 10:8,
Why did Jesus say these things about Moses, Luke 4:6, and 4:9, Luke 24:25 and finally Revelation 13:10-18.

But the age of the world (universe) and the earth (7,7 billion) begin in the the true story of the 7 seals Revelation 12,

I haven't found anything in the New Testament, either, about Jesus being concerned with the age of the earth. It is true that there is a verse that says a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years as a day, but that probably isn't the verse you're thinking of. Besides, Jesus wants us to be more concerned about making disciples and representing Him than to get worried over things like this. Keep your eyes on Him and He'll take care of the rest.

He's not. The people who cannot grasp abstract thought and understand dual concepts are the one that are concerned that the earth is 6,000 years old, or concerned in proving to that that do that isn't 6,000 year old creationism.. Absolutists who see how two thoughts do not have to conflict. I would be surprised if even 10% of the population actually think the earth is 6,000 even creationists who are not literalist believe the earth is far older. (like 4.5 billion years) either way it is an incredibly stupid argument to even have.

edit: it's there somewhere is not an answer, because it is not.

Your question makes it sound like you were there when He was alive. I've read the bible a time or two, but don't recall Jesus mentioning the age of the world.

But, since you couldn't possibly be alive at that time, I would venture to guess that He wasn't concerned about the age of the world, but more concerned about the future of mankind and how He can save our sorry behinds.

If Jesus existed, he probably didn't believe in a 6000 year old world. Even a 2000 year old carpenter can figure that out.

Jesus never gave an age to the earth.. That is how old man has decided basing it on tracing history back till Moses and using the bible to trace back the time of Adam and Eve.

Jesus never said the earth was 6000 years old.

Because the age of the earth disproves evolution. Jesus isn't really concerned with the age of the earth, he is concerned with the eternity of your soul; and the eternity of your soul depends upon your belief in Jesus Christ.

He is not. You are the only one who said He was.

The world is 5 billion years old, give or take a half a billion years or so.

I thought everyone knew that!
