I go to a Catholic High School in southern PA and I am a sophomore. My mother is Catholic and father is Jewish. Now that getting older I am starting to understand more about the Catholic faith, and there’s a lot that I don't agree with. I am starting to focus more on the Jewish faith and I am going to the temple to get more info. I am now feeling uncomfortable going to school, last week we had a group of college kids put on a retreat, which in my opinion I thought they were pushy, meaning you must do this and this to be a good Catholic, which made me feel very uncomfortable(my friends also thought the same). I was raised in NJ and live in a rural factory area in PA, I went to public school in the area which I am located and got made fun of for being Jewish and nerdy, it was horrible so I wanted to go to a Catholic school, at the time I was interested in the Catholic faith. I will be going to the temple to find out more info, and I will take it from there, just don't know about school

I have just seen several posts that have left me very sad ... again
people speaking about abortions and being very descriptive with it etc

ok yes I am pro choice , but despite what I believe or what you believe
can we remember that there may be people on this forum who have lost babies and do not need graphic descriptions
or are you just lost in your cause to think about others ?

The trees bow, the wind curtsies
In an eternal dance
In the depths of the ocean, tiny cells divide
In the reaches of space, great stars collide
Some would call it "Chance"

The sea roars, and birds sing
There's a rhythm and a rhyme
Life is a struggle, and all must die
But there, in the stillness, a baby's cry
Everything in its time

From great galaxies to tiny atoms
There is a Grand Design
For God so loved His Great Creation
That He sent His Son for our salvation
A Light forever to shine

after all, what if Thor is the mighty one and we didn't believe in Him?

We often hear it said that it doesn't matter whether one is a Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim . . . you name it. That doesn't make sense to me. The different religions' beliefs about God and Man and life-after-death conflict. They can't all be true at the same time.

It can't be that if people of different religions die, the Christian would go to heaven, the Buddhist would be reincarnated, the athiest would simply cease to exist.

How can anyone say it doesn't matter what you believe?

I am asking these questions meaning no disrepect.
Why is it in your belief that the LDS is the "one true church"?
Do you believe that other beliefs are ok?
Do other people with different beliefs go to the same heaven?

Explain like I'm stupid: Everything couldn't have just happened on its own, it had to be started by something that happened on its own.

Have I got that right?

Where are the children? Where have they gone?
I know it hasn't been so long...
They were all here, with smiling faces.
All of the children in their places.
Where are the mothers? Their children are dying!
Where are the mothers? I can't hear them crying!
Where are the fathers? Where can they be?
Why aren't they listening, why don't they see?
Their babies are murdered before their eyes!
Could they be listening to Satan's lies?
Could they be victims of his deception?
"Not a child, a 'product of conception'.
You have no responsibility.
It is not murder. You'll be free."
Where is God? Where is the Holy One?
Is He watching from His Throne?
Does He hear us when we lift our voice,
In the name of "Personal Choice"?
Will He count us guilty of this sin?
Does the blood of the children cry out to Him?

I'm not kidding, they are always quoting from that book in their answers. And whenever I talk with my Christian friend, that is all what I hear! "The bible says...."

Do you memorize the whole bible, or is there a website that produces a quote!?
My brain would explode if I had to memorize all of those little numbers and "thees" and "thous".

I mean, I can't read it I just skim through it because it's too wordy!

Oh! And is it from that famous King James bible that you quote from? Because the one that I have (A gift from ages past) is easier to read.
(And I've read Nathaniel Hawthorne, that guy is wordy too...but at least you know what he's saying!)

I've been wondering this for ages! And I know quotes, but from writers, scientists, painters, books etc.

presumably you don't believe in Zeus, Thor, Odin, Krishna, etc. So, atheism comes naturally to you.

I dreamed; saw myself walk down a hall. Walked by a closed door to my left, a 2nd door open, I walked in. It was a long room, 2 bedrooms without a partition. The end I walked into was empty. I walked back to the left; noticed a room divider. All the furnishings were neat and everything was in place, although a bookshelf was needed to store books, papers, etc. stacked neatly on the carpet. The bed was neatly made up with out of style bed/s but still neat, I saw the cosed door I'd walked past in the hall. That's when I saw my older son; I was so startled/surprised. Disbelief... Was expecting to see my younger son. Shocked, I spoke his name...Al! I didn't know you were here! He was preoccupied with arranging the room, putting things in place. He appeared content; matter of fact pleased, intent on what he's doing. Then he asked a question about organizing stuff. I didn't think he needed any help whatsoever. I was totally not expecting to see him; amazed. ?? Help. I miss him so much.
