If I were to make a statue of Satan , bring it to a church , place it on the altar , and make tribute signs to it , put flowers around its neck ; would i be worshipping this thing ?

Giving tribute , or honor to is precisely the same as worship , so indeed you would be worshipping it

It is depend on how you view thing. Maybe that is what you consider Worship, but other just do that for honor them. Like the soldier death and we honor them with flower and picture.
