Explain like I'm stupid: Everything couldn't have just happened on its own, it had to be started by something that happened on its own.

Have I got that right?

Aside to stephanie: Did you know that elephants actually change their habitat? -- It's true. They kill trees by feeding on their bark, and dead trees means more open grassland. You can look it up.

So you see, since it doesn't take "someone like us" to _remake_ the world, it's an oversized leap of logic to assert that someone like us must have made the world to begin with.

Honey, it's not you that's stupid. The people who refer to evolution as "just happening by accident," and use the old watchmaker analogy, get very tiresome after awhile. Things happen the way they do due to natural laws, not random events. Certainly, some things are random, or apparently random, or include a random element. But most of nature is cause and effect. The reason things are the way they are does not have to be conscious decision-making or design on the part of a creator. There are other, more reasonable, explanations.

Could we just go back to saying that a person who puts forth a proposition should defend it logically and rationally? Then "couldn't have just happened on its own" would be followed by "why not?"

Apparently that's the theory AFTER they say it (the universe and everything in it) couldn't have come from Nothing cos Nothing can come from Nothing EXCEPT when there's a specific Invisible Sky Critter (ISC) involved.
They (the fundies) reckon that their particular SUPERIOR breed of 'god' can do exactly that - it can slip outside TimeSpace & LogicReason and do all the thing they say can't be done by any other means especially if they are 'theories' expressed by people who haven't been sucked into the God Delusion.

I think I'm getting confused.
You said it much better than I.

No i do no longer think of you're incorrect to hate him yet hating all of us makes you depressing. you would be waiting to leave for college in case you seek around for faculties by applying GPA standards. Mine became like 2.5 from ******* around my final 2 severe college years yet i nevertheless did the hunt because of the fact I truthfully have (had) some very sturdy subjects with my mom and became desperate to get the hell faraway from her. human beings can replace-reinvent themselves-fool others around them yet their middle frequently stay the same. i'm hoping at some point karma kicks the crap out of them or they have some astonishing epiphany of ways undesirable they twisted up and alter their existence around. possibly via the years you may take toddler steps in the direction of forgiving them, yet good now they do no longer deserve it and attempting would thoroughly be in ineffective in the event that they are nevertheless this undesirable. I mean heavily what a douche. Thats approximately all i'm able to truly supply... i'm no longer nicely geared up to furnish suggestion yet I do want you good fortune.

Apparently their Creator is the only thing that dwells outside of their argument. Yet is is completely impossible for them to envision a Big Bang happening for no reason. Interesting no?

You are right. "Its own" is without intelligence or love. "Its own" chews one up and then spits one out.
