I don't understand it either. I believe 1 Tim. 6:6 -- "But godliness with contentment is great gain." They will have much to answer to God for if they are not on the up and up. That money collected should go to the cause.

Many of these big time money earners, as the latest televangelist investigation shows, have done terrible harm to the Body of Christ for many years. Christians should stand against the frauds and charlatans. Nobody should get wealthy from peddling the Gospel. When I say wealthy I don’t mean simply making a very good salary leading a large congregations, even 100,00-200,000 per year could be justified for some of the huge congregations and ministries. But the guys listed are pulling in multimillion dollar payoffs, living lives of exquisite luxury. Just stand back a little and read the Gospels, does that even make sense? Paul worked with his own hands when he traveled to evangelize, Christ did not own a home. What these guys do is so far out of whack from scripture that it should be obvious.

There are those who are in the business for money-like Benny Hinn, Paula White, Jim Bakker, Keneth Copeland, Paul and Jan Crouch, and so on are truly ridiculous. They are greedy, and could care less about the people they fleece.
There are others however who do take in vast amounts of money, but use it for the ministry. Those like Jerry Falwell, James Kennedy, Adriane Rogers (all diseased this year) started ministries that helped people world wide. All of those ministries are still operating, even after these men are dead. This is the difference between real and phony.

I believe God can bless whomever he wants. Do I agree with their theology, do they preach 'the gospel' that Jesus would want them to preach - I have my doubts.
Preaching the prosperity gospel -that we can all be materially wealthy because Jesus owes us a blessing- seems to be the point of many preachers of this day. "know Jesus will make you rich". This is not a spirit of gratitude, for they live (and we too) in a nation that is extremely rich and the people are very blessed, and their wantonness shows disdain for that which God has given us already, in GREAT abundance...so much so that our storehouses, and landfills, overflow with what we must dispose. We consume to excess, and then cry to God that "we deserve to be rich - where is the keeping of your promise?" Total arrogance. Take the USA- never fulfilled, always wanting more, while it has 5% of the world's people, it consumes 45% of the worlds energy to run its many blessings and continue its worldly pleasures! (i.e. - price of gas goes up, and people ***** that the gas companies charge too much. Well stop driving. Who said the world owes you whatever you want the way YOU want it? )
And now the preachers gather to themselves those who have itching ears, and preach that we should be demanding more of God, that he should deliver more.
Lets not forget, Jesus said that as we ally ourselves with Him, we would partake of the suffering and persecutions and the world would hate us for we are not of this world. Thats a far cry from the feel good ministeries of most modern preachers.
And ironically, as His blessings have poured over us, we are claiming these luxuries as the gift of science and taking down His bastions of morality, for we desire a more convenient truth.
Your spiritual leaders are materialistic and greedy.
Good luck, and good night America

Some of them are materialistic and sick and disgusting... others are being blessed by God. Same with most professions. I know of Realtors making money hand-over-fist by cheating people, and others making it by helping people. Do not be surprised - God said that the tares and the wheat would be allowed to grow up together. God isn't fooled by anybody. It will all turn out correctly in the end.

Being a millionaire doesn't make you materialistic and greedy.
I do know pastors (even some in my own city) who are millionaires. They take trips all over the world, have luxurious homes, expensive cars, etc. But--I don't believe they are "greedy". Being greedy is wanting everything and not settling for anything less. There's nothing wrong with having nice things or alot of money.
Are there some pastor out there who are rich and spend their money in ways that don't please God? You betcha. But that's not my business.

This is mainly an american thing there are very few over here doing what all your famous pastors do. I personally dont agree with it unless the money is being raised for charity and for those in need not for personal benefit or gain becuase then it could be percieved they are preaching for the money and not for the advancement of the kingdom of God.

What about people such as Bill Gates?
I don't see him dropping a lot of money to help people.
The church helps out a lot of needy people.
Bill Gates doesn't even spend the interest he makes.
What is the reality here?
Nobody said the pastors couldn't enjoy what the world has to offer them.

They are not Christians, they are con artists that don't know God. Not only are the making millions but they are committing crimes like fraud to make even more money. Many are being investigated presently for fraud , misuse of charitable funds, and tax crimes. They are Benny Hinn, Paula White, Crefflo Dollar (fitting name isn't it), Joyce Meyer, and Kenneth Copeland (who recently stated that Christ was the first to be born again from sin). They have their reward but on judgment day they shall be cast into a lake of fire.

Which is the very reason I have a full time job as a CNC Machinist.
I simply refuse to be a burden to the Church or it's members.
And yes, I'm a Preacher, writer and Evangelist.
