It has been a tradition(word of mouth)in the Catholic Church that Our Lord perspired blood on account of severe anxiety at the highest order(contemplating what was to befall him).
Has this condition been scientifically / medically proven possible for any human? This question might require an elaborate answer feel free to post your life away !

As a lifelong Catholic, I have never heard of this "tradition."

He was in such agony and he prayed so fervently that his sweat became like drops of blood falling on the ground.
(Luke 22:44)

It clearly states "like drops of blood".

This is an interesting article on the possibility of sweating blood: http://www.apologeticspress.org/articles/2223

With love in Christ.
