Even in the most sincere and well thought out appeals, especially here on Yahoo, if you ask many Christians a challenging, reasonable question, or make a point about some inconsistency, you are automatically "un-Christian" or "against Jesus" or "a friend of the devil" (these all all things I have been accused of for simply asking difficult questions, when I am a Christian! lol) I just think it is ironic behavior.

You are right, many of you, that this is not only in Christianity, but in many religions.

I being a Christian myself have felt that! I believe that Christ's teachings are True but people who do not keep an open mind to certain confusing stuff written in the scriptures bug me.
I mean it's high time we need to be aware that some writings were definitely tempered with by the ancient Catholic Church to suit their private doctrines and rule at the time. If I try to point that out even to my parents they say I'm being bad!! I mean what's wrong in being slightly impartial and dealing with such things with an open mind. This way we would be encouraged to follow the right teachings and accepting the existence of mistakes and certain twisted facts in the Scriptures, especially the Old Testament! It won't lead to the death of faith but a renewal of commitment to follow the peaceful teachings of Christ. At least that's how I see it and am doing just that!

Probably because your question to them seems influenced by Satan. They don't know you, so they are responding to your question. Discerning the spirits is not a gift that every Christian receives. We have many baby Christians on this site answering questions.

Perhaps it is because some understand one ofthe main things Satan has always done, was to try to get us to doubt what God has told us. As a Christian I'm sure you remember the part in Genesis, where Satan keeps asking Eve "Did God really say..."
Influenced....given a nudge, a prompting, a slight little push to change direction...yep...I'd say satan's main game is to influence the whole lot of us...and isn't that why Jesus Himself said "I am the way, the truth..."

Because they either don't know the answer or they are intimidated by the challenge of being asked a difficult question, and it embarrasses them.

They have no answers. Any questions they may have had were squelched a long time ago. Most religious debates are discouraged.
(Christians forget most non-christians grew up in the church. We know all their answers ahead of time. They, on the other hand, have rarely been schooled in other religions. Meaning they repeat untruths about us forever.)

Because that would require them to think for themselves.
Not evert Christian is like that though. There are few here like Father K and Batgirl who are pretty open, very intelligent and give well thought out, REAL answers with out regurgitating the Bible.

Especially if you start telling the truth on any Bible issue... you need to know that Christians can't be confused by any proven raw fact of life! Faith come by hearing... NOT BY TANGIBLE SENSING!

Because most Christians only see the world in black & white. They believe that if it isn't of God then it must be of Satan. They can't comprehend that the world is made up of many different shades of gray. I know because I used to be one of them.
