Ever since a friend of mine died from the Tylenol poisonings in the early 80's. The day we buiried her, it became cystal clear to me as I looked at her 4 children, one was a WEEK old, that there is no God or if, by chance I am wrong, he is a sadistic bastard who does not deserve my love.

A question was asked this morning by newverson:
Why does God kill mothers of young children or young children of mothers with cancer who have not lived life?
Does God like to torture them.

Que Bella said: Because they don't need to stay around to see anymore of life on Earth so God lets them leave. Life here is not nearly as great as people like you might believe.

My reply: Well this is a new one. I have not heard that answer before. I have to admit, it makes no sense to me so I have no rebuttal.

ROBERT C said:You're the one who believes in God...ask him....
My reply: I agree. Why doesn't he explain it?

BATGIRL2 said:GOD does not kill them. CANCER does.
My twin died at the age of 32. CANCER killed her. God did not.
Our bodies are not perfect. God does not like to torture anyone.

My reply: Was does God let nasty diseases exist? He has the power to stop it.

Screwdriver said:God does not bring miracles. God also does not bring tragedies. God does not plan or know everything that happens in the world. I believe this because I believe that God is a good God. Believing that everything happens for a reason would make God a selfish evil God.
MY REPLY: Oh, then who IS responsible for miracles?? The Bible is fuill of them.
terribly painful deaths without interfering.

There is more but I am out of room. You get the idea, believers talk in circles. When are they going to make sense?
Do they make sense to themselves? How about to each other?

By the way, I am giving thumbs up to answers that don't agree with me but make their point in a decent manner.

Chili- you get a thumbs down, yes I know what a theist is, I am not an idiot. If you don't know what that is, go research it.

No it was not an overdose. Someoen poisoned Tylenol and put it on stiore shelves. Many people died from it. 3 in the same family. The case has never been solved.

▲Amy - Whoa there, God said not to eat meat? We cause our own disease by eating it?? Ok, let's say that is true, then why do children die or get cancer? Why does God let THAT happen?

you know, I "created" my own children by giving birth to them. As a parent, I do everything I can to protect them. Why doesn't god feel that way about hsi children?

Is god just a bad parent?

I have heard Christians say similar things such as when I told the following story: A room mate of mine had a female family friend who was babysitting when she was twelve. The father came home and brutally raped the babysitter. Because the girl's family was devoutly religious they blamed her for what had happened and then blamed her even more when she turned up pregnant. The doctor told the family that their daughter should not have the baby because if she did it would render her unable to ever have children again and it could even cause her to die. The family decided it would be in their best religious interest to force the daughter to have the child and then put the baby up for adoption. True to the doctor's word the pregnancy was hard on the young girl and it did make it so she could never have children. I told this story to some Christians who actually said that it is as God will, stated that the rape was the twelve year olds fault, and that she got what she deserved. On the other hand, I have spoken with other Christians who found the whole story repugnant and claimed that the family was not really Christian at all. I guess it depends on the point of view of the individual and what they were taught to believe. I would hope that people would stop using "it's as God wills" as an excuse for doing nothing or as an explanation as to why some horrible has occurred. This attitude strikes me as being very defeatist in nature.

To me there are no answers - at least no spiritual answers - for the kind of tragedies you reference here - I remember my uncle dying from cancer at age 5 - why would God do something like that - or did God do something like that - or did God just create a world where horrible things like that can happen; and if He did, then why did He do it? To what purpose does it serve?

Honestly - I don't know - I'm not God so I don't have all the answers "for now we know in part" as the Apostle Paul wrote. I do know this however. That this world is full of evil and injustice, pain and suffering; bad things happening to good people; and bad people succeeding in their schemes.

And right now I trust. I know that God did create another world - a world of no pain, no tears, no suffering. A world where bad things never happen to good people, where everything will be made right - and maybe just maybe if I am still interested at that time - a world where all my questions will be answered.

That world is my home and I know a mansion has been prepared for me there - it's called heaven my friend - and I really hope to see you there.

Was it an overdose? It is common to lay blame on God when someone dies. My mom overdosed on sleeping pills. I am so sorry for your loss.

edit:

Oh, I see. Well, it looks like to me that there was a sadistic bastard but it was the person who poisoned the Tylenol and not God. The blame should go where it belongs.

Why doesn't God stop nasty diseases? He will when He finally ends this destruction we call life on earth. He created perfection for us so that we can live w/him in peace and harmony. Humans screwed it up w/our own selfishness and pride. Now disease, death, war rages on. He will put an end to it all, and these tragedies break His heart as well. Why hasn't He ended it all yet? He is waiting as long as He possibly can so that others may come to know Him. He wants as many people to come to faith so that they can live in the peace and harmony He wanted for us from the beginning.

I'm sorry for your friend and her 4 children. I have experienced lots of death myself. But, we have the hope that we will all be reunited again if we put our faith in Christ. Our life on earth is but a blink of an eye, but our eternal life is forever.

The wrong use of free will can get evil. Heaven is going to be the perfect place where we do not have anything evil anymore.

Somebody said it right, why blame God because He did not "kill" her. He keeps His promises and He has never promised to keep us all alive. But what He has promised that if we accept His offer, He will wake us up and we can live with Him in heaven forever.

questions about the existence of God were asked in many papers after the asian tsunami, like if there was a god why did he allow this to happen, all those kids to become orphans, and other similar dramas, like why does he allow pedophiles to be born, wars to happen, etc, etc
Some one wrote in and said if we lived in a world where the seas were always calm,it was sunny every day,and all trees bear fruit every year, and all humans were the same, this world would of been very very boring.Instead the earth is evolving, like the human race, and it has been doing so for centuries. And as parents know,If you love someone(kids) you have to let them go.May be God is doing something similar.I can not say if he is there or not.I had one of my friends been raped on my bed by a flat mate, years ago.I was asking the question myself then too.I dont believe at what they teach me at school in R.E.I do believe that someone or something has '000 of years ago started putting the mass and DNA mix together, that has now become the human race.I have read in a book once about feeling thirsty,or warm,or happy or content. It said if we never knew how it is to be thirsty we would never apreciate a glass of cold water,if we were never cold we would not know how it is to be warm,if we were never unhappy we would not know what happiness was,if we never felt empty we would not ever feel content.Do you have children? Is it not god telling you how lucky you are to have them as oposed to your dead friend?Do you catch my drift?I am not lambasting you for your beliefs,or luck of.This is just my opinion.thanx for reading,P.

I'm sorry to hear of your friends passing. We can only hope that she is watching out for her children from above.
God doesn't choose to take mothers from their children. We all have "Free Will" and your friend chose to take the medication, God did not force her.
Believing in God is a personal choice and, though you don't believe, living your life considering others and being a good person will get you to heaven.
See you there!

So, now you are god? You know so much better than He? Your plan is a much better one? Why don't you save yourself now while you have all of this power? Isn't that what Satan did?

I'm sorry. You left me with too many questions. Obviously they are not as good as your questions are, but questions none the less.
Want to know why I do believe in God? How silly. Of course not. You are a god. May your life be long and happy.

Your reason is personal to you, and you alone. And to respond to the "source posted" question index. Everyone is entitled to their opinions based on their life experiences or teachings no matter how ignorant it may sound to us. But I don't blame God for the behavior of Man kind. Their (man kind) destruction of the ecosystem, air quality, and quality of life. The behavior of Man Kind and it's never ending quest for the next big buck at all cost, or the lack of it, carries the burden of the blame.
People never blame their own behaviors for a problem, they are too busy pointing a finger else where. That's my opinion.

God is nothing more than a coping mechanism. You've chosen to cope like a mature adult. Congratulations. Once you've decided to live a life of honesty, nothing else can compare. It might be a little less whimsical and fantabulous compared to the 24/7 delusion, but at least its REAL.

People like Que Bella are like the kids in elementary school who continued to insist Santa Claus was real, even though many of your friends had parents who already came clean to them. It's actually kind of embarrassing to be around theists for this very reason.
