Although the world still has terrible wars and atrocities, some progress has been made in some areas.
One obvious example is the European Union, which is comprised of nations which engaged in bloody warfare amongst each other for many centuries.
There has been the legal outlawing of slavery in most of the world (although it still continues in some places, or effectively under other names)
Although horrible things are still done to human beings in some places in the world, most countries do not engage in the terrible tortures and executions and burnings at the stake which have been part of human history for too long.
Progress is not in a straight line, and we human beings have so much more to do. But it won't happen if we sit and wait for someone to come and do it for us. It is a human responsibility, and religion should not teach spiritual irresponsibility in these matters.

Friend, that is still a future time:
Isaiah 2:4
And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more
There shall be the great tribulation and the return of Christ before this happens.

Is Jesus in hiding? And why didn't he know that by the time he got around to returning, swords and plowshares would be obsolete?
