Thats what GOD did. According to the story, Adam and Eve ate a piece of fruit, and were then condemned to death (because the punishment of sin is death). Along with their billions and billions of children, who all died because of the original sin.

All of this, because of a piece of fruit. How is that fair? I thought the christian god was supposed to be forgiving.

I know mosts Athiests are good people just like any other group there are good and bad anywhere.

But my question is if there is no God than why behave?

You can rob a bank and if you get away with it you get away with it so why do you not rob the bank?

At the risk of causing a further battle between Theists and Atheists I am going to ask this question:

Can you both (mean the Theists and Atheists) give me 10 reason to (for the Theists) believe in God, and (for the Atheists) to not believe in God.

Thank you!

That is one of the reasons that the Watchtower magazine claims.

Then why are Baby showers ok and Wedding anniversaries OK?

Didn't understand this when I was a Witness, and I still don't understand it today.

When it's full of such ignorance, close mindedness, and lack of education when it comes to any other religion than it's own.
I'm not an atheist but more so agnostic and through educating myself from various religions, etc...I really get disgusted at the, "principle" of organized religion. So just because I don't want to praise an invisible space god he'll send me to hell? I say bring it...Just because someone is gay or not of the Christianity faith then they're damned? ::rolls eyes:: How can this so called loving god cast away someone for simply questioning his existence without having proof. And for you bible bangers....I don't consider faith as proof!

I don't bash god or a god pertaining to a particular religion but I do bash the hypocrisy within the followers. I think we all want that security blanket because not knowing is not such a good feeling. Makes a hella good fairy tale though ::winks::

Pls star if you like this one. Thx.

A kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they drew.
She would occasionally walk around to see each child's artwork.
As she came to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was.

The girl replied, "I'm drawing God."

The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like."
Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing the girl replied,. . . . "They will in a minute."

....and Heaven is so beautiful and peaceful, why then do they cling to life in such a desperate way in a world of injustice and cruelty? Do they want to emulate Jesus or are they in doubt?
To doubt is to think.

It just makes no sense.

I'm pretty sure God loves them too. But according to Christians they will go to hell so my Athiset friends that died in Iraq protecting us will go to hell.

That makes no sense at all.

okay now first I want to state that the premis of the answers should be based on the following......that sexual orientation and sexual activity need to be kept separate as a person can have a sexual orientation and yet not engage in homosexual acts. And that the way of salvation is clearly outlined in scripture as accepting the gift of grace which is through Jesus Christ. I've just seen so many answers in other questions saying you can't be a gay christian and that is obsurd......just because someone is struggling with a sin (keeping in mind the difference between action and orientation) doesn't mean they can't be children of God. My question is about the interpretation of scripture that talks about homosexuality and what your thoughts are. the verses I've been looking at have been Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13; Romans 1:27; 1 Cor 6:9 ; 1tim 1:10. I'm just trying to wrap my head around sound scriptural teachings and how it has been interpreted differently about this issue

I know the verse below is used to support extra-Biblical tradition. My question is this. Which specific traditions of the Catholic church did Paul mean when he wrote this verse? Which specific traditions did he teach that are not in the Bible?

2 Thessalonians 2:15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

Does anyone have a favorite episode from the old Twilight Zone dealing with spirit, afterlife, alternate universes, any of the things we discuss here? If so, what is it? Rod Serling was very provocative (the thought-provoking kind) in his scripts. Did any of those episodes cause you to think?
