Does anyone have a favorite episode from the old Twilight Zone dealing with spirit, afterlife, alternate universes, any of the things we discuss here? If so, what is it? Rod Serling was very provocative (the thought-provoking kind) in his scripts. Did any of those episodes cause you to think?

I like the one where the old woman is hiding from death, and a young policeman, played by Robert Redford, gets shot on her doorstep and she lets him in, then he turns out to be Death, but he's nothing to be afraid of.

Serling was a genius. So was Richard Matheson, who wrote a lot of the plays.

Oooo yeah. I grew up on the old ones. Some of them scared me to death. lol But, the funniest thing is those shows have always stuck with me. They come to mind in relation to some situations I encounter in life. I think the man was a genius and knew a lot more than he ever let on.

haha Frank, I was thinking about that episode tonight. It's like Peter Griffins one last brain cell that breaks his glasses and can't read.

Yeah. One about a biker gang member who died and went to hell. It was a room with alot of old people playing bingo or cribbage or something like that. He was having a real bad time of it, and asked his "guide" if this is hell, why are all the other people so happy? "It's heaven for them." was the response.

I thought it was very interesting at the time, but now realize how off it is. Heaven is not "doing what I liked on earth". It is being in God's presence.

I like the one about the woman who had plastic surgery in an alternate universe and everyone was holding their breath when the bandages were removed and then they started to scream--NO CHANGE, THERE IS NO CHANGE---because she still looked the same---very beautiful and all the other people were deformed---hehehe

I remember one episode in particular. It centered around a man who was always wishing for things. A man would appear to him everytime he made a wish, and grant it. This made the man who was wishing ask for more and more, until one day the man who was granting the wishes told him that he could only have one more wish, but that he would have to trade his soul for it. The man agreed and got his wish, but it was shortlived because the devil took his soul.

Thank you for asking this question!

"Little Girl Lost". Its the one where the wall behind the little girl's bed was a portal to the fourth dimension ... and her parents could hear her talking and crying, but they couldn't find her.

I loved the one where the guy who loves to read survives WWIII and finds a boat load of books. Just as he is about to start reading his glasses break.
