I just read a post where a person will not be able to afford gifts for their children this year. Does anyone have some substantial advice on how to make their childrens season a happy one?

i.e. I know there are Toys for Tots, but how do you contact them, what are the prerequisites, etc...

Also, I know many businesses, companies, school districts, faith based charities and other charities collect gifts for children-how would you go about finding out how they distribute them?

My school asks teachers and community members to try to be aware of families that may need extra assistance and reaches out to them, but I'm sure there are some families who slip through the cracks.

Any advice would be great!

Simply because I don't believe in God doesn't mean that I also don't believe in death being a transition from one life form into another. Do people even realize that Buddhists and pretty much every Non-Western religion is also Atheist?

I know that most people don't see x-mas as the birth of Jesus, but as a time for showing love to family. But in origin, it is a religious holiday, so why should athiests celebrate aswel? Would you expect Non-Jewish to celebrate Hanukkah?

I love the power of sermons in Baptist churches, I love the traditions and rituals of Catholic Churches, I love the openness of ideas in Unitarian Churches, and I love the inner peace of Buddhism. Can't I study them all and take the good of what I like from each?

Last sunday in a room of three hundred plus people a few people got baptised and then a few minuts later a few more and then a few more and then I look to the congregation and there were ten people sitting down and the rest were getting baptized, one of the pastors heard about right afterward and her eyes lit up and her jaw had to be scraped off the floor... then we had a thanks giving feast which felt more like a wedding feast if you know what I mean. This friday a few of us decided just to worship God in a prayer house and see where God was leading us. We prayed and sang and sang for only three hours but near the end drunk and silly from the Holy Spirit we sang Matt Redmans You never let go and when we got to the part "I can see the light that is coming..." there was this lamp that wouldn't turn on as much as we tried to; that turned on and we all started to laugh and jump up and down as excitement. And then a girl prophecied. Is it just us or is it happening everywhere?

I don't belong to any Organized Religion, by the way. Just in case you were about to call Buddhists (who are by far less angry than either of the two groups) arrogant or some equally as annoying a comment.

My mom was telling me about this. She said that in the Revelations section it said something about how people will get something inserted into/onto(?) their hand, and it will be the Mark of the Beast. And now...recently people are getting chips inserted into their hands (credit card info, health info). This is also tying into when Jesus was supposed to come back to Earth...(She said it's believed to be 2000 years after his death, but it's said that the prediction is possible to be a few years off.) AND...The Mayan calendar said that the world is supposed to end 12/21/12...I don't know how well I explained this...But does this not fit so well together??

Disclaimer;; I am not actually Christian anymore so I don't know how accurate this information is. :)

Seriously, what's up with this purgatory the Catholic Church tries to feed people? I mean, I'm not Catholic, I'm a Protestant, but I got to Catholic High School, and went to Catholic grade school, and they've fed me some bullcrap about purgatory. Now, no where in the Bible does it mention purgatory. I believe it as "You either go to Heaven, or you go to hell." That's it. Simple as that. There's no need for purgatory. Sure, having people pray for your soul is nice, but I don't think it really affects where you go after you die.

I remember a site that showed on verse on the screen at a time, in 5 or 6 different (english) translations... Does anyone know what this site's name is or of a similar site? I've found a few that do side-by-side comparisons of 2 or 3 translations but nothing quite as extensive as the one I remember.

Commonsense affirms that a child born into a Christian family to totally Christian parents is to be taken as a Christian. Then why all these Christianity rituals by sinful humans to enlist one into Christianity? Justifications can be many! But one can reasonably assume that God at the stage of creation does not distinguish between His creations and is infallible so that worldly humans can bestow an identity of their choice to God’s creations. Why this passport to Christianity and why be cruel to Children in Christianity by drenching them in man made holy water? Blind faith and rituals bind our World to remain in Stone Age as religions are concerned.

"The Bible says that children who have not yet reached the "age of accountability" ARE SAVED."

It does not say anything of the sort.

Leviticus 5:17 If a person sins and does what is forbidden in any of the LORD's commands, even though he does not know it, he is guilty and will be held responsible.
