My mom was telling me about this. She said that in the Revelations section it said something about how people will get something inserted into/onto(?) their hand, and it will be the Mark of the Beast. And now...recently people are getting chips inserted into their hands (credit card info, health info). This is also tying into when Jesus was supposed to come back to Earth...(She said it's believed to be 2000 years after his death, but it's said that the prediction is possible to be a few years off.) AND...The Mayan calendar said that the world is supposed to end 12/21/12...I don't know how well I explained this...But does this not fit so well together??

The information you stated is a lot of bits and pieces of what many people who don't understand Revelation believe. The truth is that the number 666 represents nothing more or less than money. We ALL already have it in our right hand--meaning we cannot live in this world without it or we would die: We could not buy food, clothing, or shelter, etc.
The chip is NOT the mark of the beast. The earth is NOT going to come to an end in 12/21/12. I used to believe Jesus was going to come near the year 2000. I used to believe that I would NEVER get a chip implanted because then I would be worshiping "the beast."
How foolish I was.
I have now read the book that explains what ALL of Revelation means. It took away much if not all of my fear, and explains exactly what John meant by 666, the beast, the dragon, the locusts, and everything.
It tells the truth about religion, politics, and world affairs. Those brave enough to read it will never be the same. The best part is the book is free to the world at the site below:

The mark of the beast could very well be an embedded chip. Not a far fetched idea when you consider the identity theft it would stop.
Orthodox Jews believe there was 2000 yrs. from Adam to Abraham. 2000 more from Abraham to Moses (the law) then 2000 yrs. til the Messiah then 1000 yr. reign of the messiah.
W/o knowing the exact date when Jesus died christians can't accurately determine when 2000 yrs. would be even if that was right. Even Jesus said He didn't know. Only God the father.
But He told us there would be signs. The first being Israel becoming a nation again. That happened in May 1948. But since God so highly prizes Jerusalem He might have meant as she was a nation formerly with Jerusalem as it's capitol. That hasn't happened yet. If He only meant included in the nation that happened in 1967.
The generation that saw Israel become a nation again wouldn't cease until the Lord returns. But He doesn't say if it will be the 40 yr. generation of His time or the length of time a current generation is. Only that not everyone alive May 1948 would die before He returned.
But another biggie is not the signs but we're told in the Bible their frequency would increase like a woman in labor. The closer to delivery the more intense & frequent the pain. We've always had wars, earthquakes, droughts, etc. but even a casual observer can tell they are more frequent and widespread. God is in the natural as well as the supernatural. He knows all. Just because He knows what's going to happen doesn't mean He predestined it, anymore than a fortune teller telling you you're going to die tomorrow is guilty of murdering you. He knew what would happen & gave every man/woman a way out.
One of the best novels I've ever read on the end times is The Christ Clone Trilogy. It may have a corny title but it really makes clear how everything comes together quite naturally and horrifically by a chain of events. Only God intervening supernaturally can save man. The trilogy was so well written it was like watching a movie. The Left Behind Books were little more than kiddie books by comparison. Armegeddon Books carries it, you can get a preview on site (James Beauseigner wrote it) and some libraries even carry it so if you can't afford it you could use your local lending library. Christian or not it's a mind blower.

Consider this, as it fits God's prophecy without adding mystical content.
An actual physical chip has already been developed for implant. This chip is designed to be used for commerce, buying and selling. It would contain our identity (mark of man) for security reasons. This mark is encrypted by means of technology similar to the bar code on products, which uses 6-6-6 as start, change, stop signals for the bar code reader.
At some point, after some have been enticed into using it, ALL will be required to have this chip. (there are various reasons which i wont go into detail here) , at which point we can all be controlled and monitored by whatever malevolent beings are in power at that time. This much you already know.
Further in Revelation, it states that whoever recieves this mark will have agony because of it. One of the problems with this actual physical chip is that the body tries to grow around it, and cancer can be a result. Another hazard is the lithium it contains which, if the chip cracks or loses its seal, will leak out, a minute quantity, and which even the inventor admits, can cause skin sores.
Now with the prophecies being this literal, and with the Bible explaining that the beast demands homage and worship be proven by taking the chip, and the Bible explaining that this beast is a system, it could very well mean taking the chip is in literal bondage to another god (satan).
If the beast system is an economic system that means so much to us that we need 'the mark', then we are reminded that God said "we cannot serve God AND mammon (money). And whoever is in control of this economic system with its technology would ultimately be the one we are serving.
If ancient prophecies can be this descriptive about modern technology, well , you know the saying.... "if it walks like a duck..."

The thing about the Book of Revelations is, John seen them almost 2000 years ago. Now he seen stuff he could not possibly describe I am sure, and the Lord may have shown him things that are not exactly like they are now just so he would understand and be able to write those things down for us too. So if it was a chip in our forehead or hand that scans when we go to a grocery store or some other shopping place we don't know. Even if it was a chip he may have seen it more like a brand or tattoo. We will just have to wait to see. I have heard it said that it is to deal with not technology but spiritual and will be no real marks but was just a way for him to see the wide split of Christians and others in the last days. We just do not know yet.

The mark of the beast is your desire for riches and the tings you will do to get it. This is not a future event it has already happened. It was done more then 3000 years ago.
You know his name, he gave the serpent a voice and an image. He also did many miracle in the sight of men and call down fire from the sky. But above all he most famous for saving his people from the bite of snakes, and the stone tablets he brought to them and parting the reed sea.

I don't Think it will be the Mark of the Beast UNTILL you have to Deny Jesus Christ Risen from the Dead to "Get that Chip".
Above is What I Believe.
Other than That, for EveryDay Stuff IF the Govt. was Honest (Oh Brother! ;) a Chip in the Hand would be "Handy" (Oh Brother Again!)
Really, why carry a Wallet when a little Do-Dad can take care of the Business?

Notice it say (mark of the beast), not mark of info etc. There are already people who have the mark of the beast , read revelations 18, the great merchants of the earth small and great, take the mystery mark, it is a spiritual mark.
You cannot be a great merchant of the earth small or great, unless you are sold out.Besides exchange your soul and have to work hard what a joke , what chump change.

If you look carefully, you will find that there have been hundreds of others, if not thousands, who have set dates for the end of humanity and ALL of them have been wrong. Also keep in mind that New Testament canon was arbitrarily established even though the Church would have you believe that it was a work of God. Eternal life IS. It does not depend on what or what we might get injected into our bodies. Ask your Mom to be more specific. NOTHING about injections is spoken of in the referenced letter of beloved John. I fear that your Mom is either making or repeating an INTERPRETATION of something that John wrote. Be at peace. Be joyful and enjoy the presence of God that IS within you.
