The more aggressive Christians here seem to have a real thing about Atheists, but seem to stop there? Shouldn't they be posting snarky questions about Islam, or Scientology, or Odin?

Which is worse, in their books? Belief in a false god, or lack of belief in a god?

Why is it that all these people have Reverend in front of their name? They cannot spell most of the time, nor do they actually act like a minister. Don't you need a degree to be a religious teacher? That's like me saying I'm a doctor, because I believe in salves and band-aids...

Christians love countering this claim, but I never heard an atheists say it. Whoever said it has set us up for these wind and love arguments. Which one of you was it?

Dont say, "Well I cant see Him." That is a bunch of junk. There are several things that you cant see, but are there. How do you seriously think this whole universe was formed? Do you seriously think that poof it was just there, without someone putting it there? And that somehow all the planets are perfectly rotating around the sun without crashing into each other? How do you explain that happening if everything just created itself? And how do you explain all the stars not colliding, and are perfectly scattered across the sky?
Seriously dont tell me you dont believe because you cant see him, when the whole universe is evidence that is was NOT an accident, but perfectly designed and created.
What is your real reason?

According to Christians...

God created humans. Humans are sinful creatures unable to meet God's standard of righteousness, which he also created. God had to sacrifice his own son to himself to "pay" for the sins of humans and "save" us from his own wrath. If we don't accept that sacrifice and be grateful to Jesus for dying for our sins (especially since we're so "unworthy" of it to begin with), we get to suffer eternal torment for being miserable sinful creatures...as God created us.

We're sinful, we're the reason that Jesus had to suffer on the cross, we're completely unworthy, and if we don't acknowledge that, we'll burn in hell. That sounds an awful lot like..."You're stupid, you're horrible, no one else would ever want you, look what I have to go through BECAUSE OF YOU, and if you try to leave me, I'll make your life miserable."

So...how am I supposed to reconcile that this is a "loving god", when he sounds more like an abusive parent/spouse?

i'll put a disclaimer on this so that i don't get bashed and patronized
I'M LOOKING FOR ACTUAL INSTANCES; i have not read the entire bible. i'm in the process. this is curiosity. please don't answer if you don't have an example, and if this pisses you off just ignore it. one example i saw;
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6:12).

Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves." Romans 13:1-2

i don't find these contradicting. to me the first is talking about evil leaders/corrupt govt. we have seen througout time. they're different.

This poor 19-year-old woman was gang-raped 14 times and, because she was travelling in a car with a man to whom she was not related, SHE will be given TWO HUNDRED LASHES and 6 months in jail (if she's still alive).

This is Islamic Law at work in Saudi Arabia TODAY. What is your opinion of this?

In the last couple of days in my Bible reading, I've noticed that when the apostles 'set the gentile church free' in terms of letting them know that they don't have to follow the Levitical laws, it did have a few caveats.

One was don't eat meat sacrificed to idols. (Check).

Another was abstain from sexual immorality. (Check).

But the other troubled me --- it said not to eat blood or anything strangled --- essentially, don't eat meat that's not kosher.

I've never heard a single Christian even address this issue from the pulpit nor heard any Christian discussion on it. Am I missing something? Is this something that we need to be doing? If not, WHY not? Thanks!

I asked a perfectly simple and curious question yesterday about whether or not strict Christians masturbated. It was not meant to make fun, I am just curious to see if people who normally live their lives by a strict set of religious rules, sometimes have a weak moment. It wasn't meant to be dirty in any way. Yet it was deleted due to a "violation" because obviously some one was sooooo offended by it that it just had to be reported. I don't notice this type of close minded crap anywhere else except in THIS section. How can Christians expect to be respected by other denominations or faiths when they are pulling this sort of immature, close minded crap?

The Time We Spent
By JAC

I wish that you were here,
I miss the laughs we had,
When you’re gone I feel some tears,
When you’re gone I feel real sad,

Then all of a sudden you are gone fast,
The things I feel just don’t seem right,
I know that this life never lasts,
But I didn’t think you would leave tonight,

I miss you but I know that God is here,
I love you so but I will try not to fear,
Cause God, he won’t give me more then I can bare,
And cause he’s good and very fair,

Then all of a sudden you are gone fast,
The things I feel just don’t seem right,
I know that this life never lasts,
But I didn’t think you would leave tonight,

But I won’t miss you for long,
I will fly to the sky,
Then I will see where you belong,
But until that night, I will wait until the time is right,

But don’t worry I will never forget the times that we’ve spent,
I feel much pain and sometimes alone but that wasn’t your intent,

Then all of a sudden you are gone fast,
The things I feel just don’t seem right,
I know that this life never lasts,
But I didn’t think you would leave tonight,

Then all of a sudden you are gone fast,
The things I feel just don’t seem right,
I know that this life never lasts,
But I didn’t think you would leave tonight,

But in the end,
I thank God for the time we did spend.
