Because the purpose of Catholicism is to suppress and exterminate Christianity, if possible. Just about every command in the New Testament is reversed by Catholicism- systematically, it seems.

Because when Romans were converted over into Christianity they brought along many pagan practices. Instead of getting rid of them they put a Christian spin on them. They are not of the Bible and occasionally they contradict Biblical principles. This is not only for Catholics though, but many Christians hold on to these traditions and teach them as Biblical facts. This can only lead to the weakening of the faith.

All Christian sects have pagan practices and rituals. When they were invading countries with pagan people, they thought it would be easier to "convert" everyone if the religious practices were similar. So the Christians "made up" their own religion practices and rituals to coincide with the pagans.

It was part of bringing pagans into the fold. They wanted them to convert without having to kill most of them. So they took on some of the holidays and religious practices to make it easier.

Because back in the day they were trying to convert the pagans, so they incorporated some of their ideas into their traditions. It was a gimmick of sorts.

Non-pagan Christians have a name- JEWS.
Once you guys started using pagan teachings of God impregnating a mortal virgin and giving birth to a Man/God hybreds of himself and trinities of God heads and virgin mothers and the Man/God dying and returning in a new form etc. you started melding theologies together.

All Christians do...
The date of the birth of Christ is from the Mithras religion, as is the idea of baptism. The Holy Trinity is from the Egyptian religion of Isis. Etc.
Religion used to be very syncretic as they used to absorb the beliefs of other religions. However, the monotheistic religions of today refuse to do so.

Why are so many stories in the Bible ripped off from earlier religions? Same reason. Religion is a cultural thing, and when cultures mix, they share ideas and traditions...
(Yeah, Noah, we do know the Epic of Gilgamesh...)
