This poor 19-year-old woman was gang-raped 14 times and, because she was travelling in a car with a man to whom she was not related, SHE will be given TWO HUNDRED LASHES and 6 months in jail (if she's still alive).

This is Islamic Law at work in Saudi Arabia TODAY. What is your opinion of this?

Dr 8'lls and Equinox - fair enough, you want the source. It's the BBC News today. Here's the address to paste in your browser:

To those people who say that this is not Islamic law, I reply that you either do not know what you are talking about or you are dissembling.

This is Sharia law which is the law of the Islamic religion. Saudi Arabia is not only Islamic, it also houses the WORLD CENTRE of the Islamic religion at MECCA.

This woman did absolutely nothing, except get raped. She now suffers for being a totally innocent victim.

Sharia law is a disgusting, barbaric nonsense that needs to be swept away.

Yes, this is Islamic justice as practiced in Saudi Arabia. Yes, she was sentenced to 6 months in jail & 90 lashes for being the victum, but that sentence was increased to 200 lashes because she spoke out publically about it & tried to callenge the verdict. In addition, her lawyer is facing a 3-year jail sentence & possible disbarrment for taking her case. And in case you're wondering, the rapists each recieved 100-200 lashes &3-12years in prison, depending on their part in the crime. You can hope all you want, but yes this is basically the "justice' the islamist would like to impose on the rest of the planet.

Yes it's abhorrent but not all Muslim countries are like that : take the example of Turkey, Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Jordan, etc etc etc...get the picture?

There are some Muslim countries that have a more extreme form of justice, such as Saudi Arabia. Different cultures and different interpretations of morals, you could say. It's funny, though, how the West barely mentions them ever. Commericial (i.e. trade) considerations, anyone?

This is against Islamic Law..
What do you know about Saudi government...they are friends of Bush & co afteral aren't they?!!! They are not islamic, or only when it suits !!!
If this story is indeed true then this perhaps does not surprise me as the words 'Losing the plot' come to mind for most governments in this NWO..

Prophet Muhammad (on him be peace) said that Islam would become a stranger: such stories if true are examples of what Prophet Muhammad (on him be peace) meant..

The Saudi government is a puppet government of your US government (assuming you are from the US) or the NWO government!!

The whole world is losing the plot because:
"All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing" --- Edmund Burke

Can you be absolutely sure you are doing your bit!!
Would your own corrupt government be in place if everyone was doing their bit!!

Peace.

its the misinterpretation of the religion by sexist religious leaders in a male dominant society . i heard according to the koran women are supposed to be very much respected etc. but its the religoius leaders or the religious teachers in the schools who misinterpret the religion and teach what they want others to believe.... like the interpretation of jehad etc

to the people who think it happens only in Islam ,guess what. Christianity started out the same too. Women were degraded and any woman who speaks her mind or is intelligent etc was considered a witch and burned alive like 5 MILLION others durning some 2 or 300 years. Women were considered a sin . like sex is considered a sin.
Well there are a whole lot of things to be said but basically its the law of the men who are in power

NO its NOT Islamic Law, its how the saudi government has interpreted the Islamic law, if it was Islamic Law that the Saudi government was following then the men would have never gotten away with such little punishments. Please dont confuse what Islam teaches with how some power greedy societies interpret Islamic teachings for their own gains. If you really need to know bout the Islamic Law read the Quran, saudi government isnt a spokerperson or representative of Allah.

Islam does not allow any man to rape a woman neither for desire and certainly not as a means of punishment. these terrible incidents occur when Muslims who are ignorant of the basics of their religion manipulate shariah laws as per their own needs and desires . Saudi Arabia may be one of the prominent Muslim nations on earth but that does not mean that it does not have people who misunderstand and misinterpret their religion .Of course one cannot hold Islam responsible for all this .Islam asks a believing man to lower his gaze in front of a strange woman and to guard his modesty and same is true for a believing woman .so how any one can justify such happenings in name of Islam or shariah laws is beyond my comprehension. As far as shariah laws are concerned they are a a way of life .They are there to guide us to to the right path not to justify our cruelty or our sins.

Islam is a religion dreamed up by men , for men , and men only . To them , women are somewhat below a donkey . They really believe that women are here only to satisfy and serve the men .
It's easy to tell the limit of the Muslim brain . Of all the wonders that we have and enjoy today , not a single thing has ever been invented by a Muslim . Their brain doesn't respond to making improvements in the world , it's stuck back in 635 A.D. superstition and domination fo women .
The amazing thing is that the women go along with the idea . By doing so , they encourage it . They're not any too bright either .

I have heard that this is the law in some countries with a strong Islamic influence but I am not sure that it is actually Islamic law or just laws passed by some male chauvinist pigs

Which part of "the sentence contravenes (goes against; violates) Islamic Law" do you not understand?

You are making it sound like the sentence is Islamic law when it is not the headline even says that. Twisting does not prove anything accept that you lack real evidence for you prejudice.
