Fortunately for me, fundamentalists of any faith do not determine how I view God.
I try my best to hold the highest of opinions of any Divine Being responsible for creating the entire universe and giving me such a fantastic opportunity to be part of this experience of life.
Whatever great feats of mercy, love and all things good we can fathom in ourselves at our most spiritually evolved, I believe God must have those 1 million-fold.
So whenever ANY faith tries to paint God as petty, jealous, easily hurt by us puny humans, bigoted, simple-minded and able to have his ENTIRE mind and opinions on EVERYHING and EVERYONE past, present and future contained in a BOOK than man can now wield to his own selfish advantage, I immediately know it is a load of crock.

God is always love. Whether there are good comments or bad comments in Him.
1John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
We can not add or diminish God.
James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

if I would base God according to the fundies description of Him, I wouldn't think He's loving at all, but rather a hateful and vain god.
but thank God I am Catholic, and because the Catholic Church's description of God, I know that God is loving.

Sure. I think God is love. The fundamentals description of God is just inaccurate. But you know what, while I don't need to accept their idea of what God is, they don't have to accept mine.
(I'm in my polite mood this morning. Must be Friday)

No. And quite honestly, I think the people who like to condemn others to hell are doing more of a disservice to religion than atheists are.

He that does not love has not come to know God, because God is love. Sing to Jehovah, bless his name. From day to day tell the good news of salvation by him. Declare among the nations his glory, Among all the peoples his wonderful works.
