Because a lot of people don't understand the difference between "offensive" and "violation".
Questions that offend a small group of easily offended people are not violations.
Although Y!A often treats them as such.

Would that be done with answers too? I think many more answers are deleted than questions. I think it would be good, but we would all be so busy voting, we wouldn't have time to answer questions. Maybe less than 10 votes? I would think 5 would be enough. The question would have to be removed to an area that could only be accesssed by level 6-7 peeps. No longer viewed in open forum. Maybe it would be easier if only levels 5, 6 and 7 could REPORT in the first place.

Some people are very easily offended. I had a comment deleted one time and all I did was say what Paul said in 1 Corinthians chapter 14:34 but did not quote the verse or give the book or chapter and I received a violation for slanders and slurs. that was back when they explained the violations and had them categorized.

If two or three people don't like your question they can get it deleted on that basis alone. Doesn't have anything to do with content.. If you like roses and they don't they can get you deleted..
Don't go blaming the Christians, as I don't report people. If I don't like the question then I don't answer it.. Why go around reporting everyone just to be mean..

YA does not exactly inspect questions before deleting them. If reported, they are gone. So if someone has a beef with you over something, it is just a way for them to harass you.

There are people here who are completely offended by the fact that some people don't believe in their god of choice, or any god at all.
It shows how closed their mind is to other possibilities, and does nothing but reinforce stereotypes.

To answer your question: because some people love to be offended. It gives their lives meaning.
To answer your deleted question: yes, they most certainly do. The ones who say they don't are liars.

It happened to me as well and I bet it happened to any person who tried to make a point that some fanatics didn't fancy with
PS: Most of them consider masturbation to be a terrible sin, and would never admit the fact that they are doing it ...

Sometimes things are just too much for the average person to handle. I too have had legitimate questions deleted. Their only crime: too thought provoking.
