Christians love countering this claim, but I never heard an atheists say it. Whoever said it has set us up for these wind and love arguments. Which one of you was it?

They equate "seeing" with "evidence," conveniently forgetting that we have evidence for many, many things we cannot see.

Even though I can not see the wind, I can see it at work and it can be proven. I can feel it and someone is standing beside me they can also. When I tell a friend about the wind they can also feel it right then and there. Unlike a so called Christian God

Yeah, but the wind argument is stupid since we can see the molecular movement in wind. And love is an intangible concept.

Nobody says it's because they cannot see him, we usually have scientific evidence and or personal views to back up our arguments.

Yeah I've never seen anyone say that either.

I've also never heard an atheist say "Thank god" or "Oh my god" as they like to assume is some sort of deep-seeded religious conviction.

I think we tend to say that we don't believe in God because there is no EVIDENCE to support the claim. Seeing is such a limited source of information.

I heard George Carlin say this:

"They believe in an invisible man who lives in the sky...
I on the other hand, worship the sun. For one, I can see the sun...okay...and that lends a lot of credibility in my book."

I'm guessing it went something like this:

AM: One doesn't observe God.
TT: You said you can't see God? Well, can you see wind?

I think "see" is usually a bad paraphrase for "observe."

That way theists can say, "God is like the wind -- you feel him, not see him," even though the wind, much unlike the Creator of the Universe, is observable.

I have never heard any Atheist ever give that as a reason.

Not me. I'd be too disappointed in myself if I knew I was responsible for inspiring one of those nauseating "Atheists: Do you believe in the wind?" questions.
