There's a question on here that asks whether jesus was murdered or something else, and the general concensus of opinion seems to be that he was "murdered".

Given that the definition of "murder" is:
"the killing of a human being by a sane person, with intent, malice aforethought (prior intention to kill the particular victim or anyone who gets in the way), and with no legal excuse or authority. "

and that Jesus was killed by the Roman authorities with the legal excuse that he was formenting rebellion, in what way can it be said that he was murdered instead of executed???

I love the Lord but sometimes I have felt the spirit of oppression one day when I worked in insurance everyone was being negative and I could feel this in the air and I asked a co-worker who is a christian and he said he felt that there was opression too.

My question is can you feel vibes whether something is negative or postive, does the Bible have anything to say about this energy?

Also when I clean my house I open all the windows and pray over each room that Gods peace would be present and I ask God to remove all negative thoughts and energies we might have brought into the home. Do any of you do this?

Do you also think that words spoken that are negative go into the universe and continue to cause hurt even long after the words are spoken?

mitt romney declared that plural marrige is an abomination. I heard it on the news several months ago. but Joseph smith defended plural marriage as a restoration of the fulness of the gospell. Some even taught a person must accept a plural wife in order to gain celestial Exaltation.
but i know the BoM denounces it. i also know that STRANGE wives are denounced in the book of Ezra.
God, the BoM says, Loves the chastity of women. so? i ask where is the ultimate Expounding of this doctrine when a Later prophet (president) of the church made an official ban of plural marriage. ?

Our son's work-mate has recently come from Ghana to Scotland and is a Roman Catholic. He's keen to join any Catholic processions going on in the city around now. Somehow, I think the weather there might be a deterrant for processions, but if there are any events you Scottish Catholics know of, could you kindly advise? Then I'll pass the info on. Ta!

That most the people that have these AM or VT "badges" are atheists.

And most atheists here bash people for being followers...anyone else find the irony hilarious?

Also, does anyone else feel bad for them because it comes off as a desperate attempt to be accepted or be part of a group?

I'd love to know what they believe...I just don't want anyone, missonary or whatever, to come to my house. I don't need anyone to "explain" things to me. If the first Mormon (LDS, whatever) people could interpret for themselves, I'm sure I can manage without someone staring over my shoulder. Seriously, I like reading people's holy books, I just don't want to be bothered by people trying to convert me. Anyway this can happen?

(I'm might be willing, if I have to, to pay for it if they sell it in stores, but I've never seen it, and I prefer free things anyway.)

My 3rd grader has a wonderful teacher this year. We would love to give her a gift for Hannakah, is this appropriate? If the teacher were not Jewish, we would have no issues with giving her a Christmas gift, but we don't want to be insensitive to her religion since we are not Jewish. If this is appropriate, when should we give it to her, as Hannakah is for 8 days?

I decided to quantify the vitriol in R&S. I looked at the 10 most recent questions and counted the number of vitriolic remarks (those that included a direct insult either towards Christians, a specific member or towards another member's religion which had no associated redeeming quality or meaning behind the negative remark) made by those claiming to be atheists (i.e. containing an atheist reference in their name or by the blatant obviousness of their comment) and by Christians (using the same criteria). I only counted negative remarks and ignored those that were neutral, positive or dubious. I ignored the Saudi Arabia rape thread, even though it would have clearly painted atheists in a poorer light, because the distinctions were more difficult there. In total, I counted 32 vitriolic atheist remarks and a single vitriolic Christian remark. So why is it that atheists are so distinctly more vitriolic than Christians?

I was blocked from answering this question, so I will answer it here.

We do not worship the Pope, Mary, nor the saints.

God alone is worthy of worship.

We ask Mary and the saints to pray for us, just as all Christians do of family and friends.

We honor the Office of Saint Peter, which is occupied by the current Pope. We welcome an Apostolic Blessing, if we should be so graced, by the Bishop of Rome -- the Pope -- who is the successor to Saint Peter.
