That most the people that have these AM or VT "badges" are atheists.

And most atheists here bash people for being followers...anyone else find the irony hilarious?

Also, does anyone else feel bad for them because it comes off as a desperate attempt to be accepted or be part of a group?

Eris: It is not running with a joke, it is wanting to be part of an "inside" joke. Those are only used in an attempt to make one feel important by being on the "inside", hence the name.

jonjon: I agree...criticizing is not bashing.

ZeroCool: Exactly, it is an "inside" joke...see my previous comment about those. Not sure why I need to calm down though...I just find it funny.

If it is really all in good fun, why are so many of you angry at me? If you want to see how someone truly feels, question them until they get angry...then you will find their insecurites.

I have thought that. I guess every human needs to belong to some group.

I don't bash anyone for being a follower. I follow all sorts of societal rules every day. I wear clothes in deference to societal norms (and facist pants-lobby influenced laws!) I DO question everything I follow though, and will reserve the right to question things others follow as well, to the extent that it affects my life (and no further, as it's really not my business other than that.)

Criticizing irrational beliefs is not the same as "bashing."

I rarely criticize anybody personally. There have been a few times I've been so utterly exasperated by the proud idiocy of a given question that I can't help calling the person a moron - and of course I get deleted, because I can't pretend I'm just quoting Psalms 14:1 like the "Christians" can.

For the record, I will ALWAYS defend people of any denomination from unfair attacks, e.g. when the "fundies" pile on the Catholics or vice-versa, even though both groups would tell me I'm going to hell. I feel like I might as well give you all an example of what REAL morality and values are about. I don't pick and choose who I defend or criticize based on how they act towards me - I do it based on actual principles.

I am a deist.

I totally wear the VT as a badge of honor because Rachel, Pangel, and I were singled out by Chosen by Grace and called vile temptresses. It is an honor to wear it as tribute to a moron.

Are you truly trying to elicit pity to get your point across? I read loads of these questions,,,,yes, I can see how some people may take offense at some of these things....but in general, is it really that wrong to have a different point of view, and to question and test the world around you? My mind is too open to agree with you on this, sorry.

Well AM is Atheist Mafia- so yeah- but they let others wear the badge to some extent. They told me that even though I am not Atheist- I could be an AM Informant.

I really think it is quite humorous. If you are nice to them, they will let you join their groups.

It is all in good fun. Remember the AM is watching you.

Hehe.

I am not VT because I want to join a group. I am VT because I am standing up against an annoying chauvinistic pig. Not the same as blindly following some invisible sky fairy.

Sounds a little like a Yahoo! Answers version of the cliques in high school.

Hon... it's an inside joke, and those aren't as insidious or desperate as you've implied. Both "VT" and "AM" remind us of humorous events or users on this forum. That's it.

Calm down. It's all in good fun.

*shakes head* I'm not angry at you. Even if you do manage to inspire anger, that wouldn't "prove you right".
