One for the strictly religious (regardless of religion)
One for athiests
One for middle of the road folk (Go to church but don't want school to be religious, for example).

Or, how would you split up the country - or would you?

Right. Because being even MORE divided is the answer...

NOT based on religion.

I have much more in common politically with the less rabid among believers than I have with many atheists.

Religion isn't a natural political division. Except for the total wing-nuts, and yes, having them be in a different country, which they could turn into a theocracy and implement inquisitions and all the rest DOES sound tempting.

They could refuse to educate their young, outlaw everything they think their Sky Bully doesn't like, and end up slaughtering each other over exactly which version of the Sky Bully to worship.

The more I think about it, the better it sounds.

But I don't like your other two divisions. I have no problem with believers who also believe in the Constitution, including the Bill of Rights. We get along just fine.

The real split, I gather, is between urban and rural. If you look at the detailed election maps for the last two elections, you see vast stretches of reddish purple, with little dots of very bright blue (cities).

The biggest problem with splitting the country on ideological grounds is that people would have to move. How to decide what places are the theocracy, and which America?

I see where you're going. Put all like-minded people in their own zones, then everyone will get along. Man, I wish it were that simple...

Most of your monotheist are of the belief that their faith is the correct one and all others are roads to hell. I feel sorry for the pagans in that state.

When you say atheists, do you mean true Atheists or the God haters that call them selves Atheists? For simplicity's sake, let's through them both in the same zone. You have one sub-sect. that is nagging on how bad God sucks, and another group that has to hear it, but think they are nagging about nothing. Peace be with you on that one....

Middle of the road folk. This is a toughy. I would guess they would be the most likely to behave themselves. I mean, they would have their opinions, but probably wouldn't let it get out of hand. Of course, since these are the guys that have been the buffer between the other two sects, they are going to have some very noisy neighbors.

Well, there's my thoughts, best wishes.

No it would not be better off.

We need to unite and remember a few basic truths

1) America is for all of us..not just one group
2) America has certain basic rules to protect all groups which we should respect
3) We are AMERICANS before we are theists, atheists, agnostics, etc
4) This whole God business should NEVER divide us...belief in a God does not make anyone better or worse...it is just thoughts and I think Thomas Jefferson said it best with "Say nothing of my religion. It is known to God and myself alone. Its evidence before the world is to be sought in my life: if it has been honest and dutiful to society the religion which has regulated it cannot be a bad one."

So a fancy club membership means nothing at all...it is what type of person you are. I have enought trust and faith in my own God to think it can determine between a good person who did not call it by a special name and a scumbag who said a pet name for God all day every day.

How about we all live our lives as best we can and let the afterlife take care of itself instead of living to die like the country does now

Not big fan of succession.

Let me ask this question:
How long before the "strictly religious" territory break up into even smaller sectarian territories?

Also, I suspect that the atheist and MOR folks would probably join up and form a single country.

No, regardless of the reality that i've got faith this united states ought to apply plenty much less conservatives, i do no longer think of it would be super if it became into like "you're born in the Liberal states of united statesa., consequently we can face liberatariansim (or despite the hell you call it) on you" or vice versa. it is between the sturdy issues approximately united statesa. is we've the in simple terms right to %. i've got faith human beings could be extra knowledgeable on themes nonetheless, to make extra effective decesions. BTW, for the reason that conservatives look so supportive of the conflict, i'm afraid they had attack Liberal united statesa. (the situation I intend to stay if something like that occurs.)

What a dumb question.
How about splitting into territories say for vegetarians vs meat eaters, or for Ford drivers vs Chevy drivers.
Or maybe different regions for people who only like rap music vs country music and then special territories for people who prefer curly fries instead of regular fries.
The possibilities are endless!

While it would certainly benefit some often overlooked states, I think in the end the USA is at its best left unified. Although I think dividing the USA based off of religion is ludicrous, as it was founded with the idea of church and state separate.

We will only find issues within our "territories." If we can just agree to disagree with each others views, and not force feed anyone to digest our "beliefs," gosh, imagine how the WORLD would be....just live life and take care of our fellow human beings. Besides, we tried that, it flat out didn't work during the pre-Civil War. Good suggestion, though!

Called the Divided States?

But then where would the divisions end? Atheists are no more united the the theists on what they believe is right or wrong. Eventually we would split ourselves until we all had our own little state, what America is attemping is one of the greatest experiments in history, I say let it play out.
