Given by God to Moses at Mt. Sinai. The bookof Job has also been accredited to Moses; as (time perspective) belongs between Genesis and Exodus as Job was the son of Isaachar (Gen. 346:13 KJV), and one of his consolers Eliophaz was the son of Esau(Gen.36:3-4).

Some people way back when didn't know how man came about and so they made up stories. These stories were around the fire at night and then one day about 6,000 years ago humans learned how to write. After a few thousand more years some people wrote down these stories of creation. Here we are years later with people still buying into these camp fire stories.

It is a metaphorical sort of thing that finds it's credit symbolistically and was created through beliefs and orally recorded histories. Don't put too much credibility on it. there are many vdocumentories and articles that attempt to explain it's meaning. Seek tham out and find out what you'd like to believe.
