mitt romney declared that plural marrige is an abomination. I heard it on the news several months ago. but Joseph smith defended plural marriage as a restoration of the fulness of the gospell. Some even taught a person must accept a plural wife in order to gain celestial Exaltation.
but i know the BoM denounces it. i also know that STRANGE wives are denounced in the book of Ezra.
God, the BoM says, Loves the chastity of women. so? i ask where is the ultimate Expounding of this doctrine when a Later prophet (president) of the church made an official ban of plural marriage. ?

How can you believe anything Joe Smith said when he used a hat and a seer stone to do his interpretations? When you start out with a false prophet, you end up with a big mess.

Plural marriage practiced without the commandment of God is an abomination. Plural marriage practiced with the commandment of God is not. That is how I understand Jacob chapter 2. (see verse 30)

In the Official Declaration 1, Pres. Woodruff explains how and why the revelation to discontinue plural marriage came about. He saw a vision of what would happen to the church and was commanded to cease the practice.

Plural marriage existed with the ancient patriarchs. Strange women refered to women that were not of the Abrahamic covenant, or marrying out of the faith.
The Book of Mormon teaches the law of one man and one wife. However, in Jacob it states clearly that if God desires to raise up a people unto Himself, He will command His people, otherwise they will observe this law of one man and one wife. Thus, God allows Himself to make exceptions as He sees fit.
Joseph defended plural marriage because he was commanded to live the law as one of God's exceptions to the general rule. It served its purpose and was ended in 1890.
Mitt calls it an abomination now because to live that rule is contrary to God's prophets instructions and His will at his time. Therefore, to disobey the prophet and God, is indeed an abomination no matter what the rule is you are breaking. Plural marriage, as practiced in the apostate sects of the western deserts of Utah and Arizona, is not in accordance with God's will or His way of living, and is thus an abomination in the way it is practiced.
If you look at things in the proper perspective, it all makes sense.
