Do you think that Tertullian was correct:
"What has Jerusalem to do with Athens?"

I believe there is a way to reside in both...

What is your opinion?

I am a Nazarene Jew...

That is exactly what you are doing and you do not even know it. you really do want to know the truth. That is why you are on here disputing all questions fron Christians. Oh yes you are too. Otherwise you would have better things to do with your time that disputing something that you do not believe in. But, that is a good thing, stay on here and just maybe someone will say the right thing that will get your conviction. You know that God exist and you know that you need him. I know that if I did not believe in something that I would change the channel, but you won't because you ARE really searching.

You never see atheists on here trying to recruit Christians.

I am one of two Sunday School teachers at my family's church. I teach two year olds and I am a senior in high school. I don't believe in God or anything. How would you feel if your two year old was in my class?

Truth:It is much harder to believe in something you can't physically see with your own two eyes then believing in it.

Dare:I dare you to give believing in God a try, because I promise you, though you can't see Him, you will DEFINITELY know He is there.

I have been a Christian for a while and I have still had doubts about God, because it is man's nature to doubt. But time and time again he reassures me.

-God Bless!

I've seen two questions tonight to the effect of, "If God (apparently the Christian God; both askers seemed disinclined to be specific about this) were PROVEN to exist, would you admit that he's real/worship him/whatever"? And I've seen plenty of questions like this in the past too.

All right...if the existence of a god (whichever one you like) could be proven (inasmuch as anything can be proven in science)...say that he/she/it spelled out the phrase "Hey there earth!" in the sky with stars...why wouldn't we (atheists, agnostics) believe? It's the fact that he/she hasn't alread DONE so that makes us (or at least me) disinclined to believe.

So I guess my question is: do some Christians just think that atheists and agnostics feel the way we do because we're stubborn jerks who won't believe what's in front of our eyes? Because, to me...the main problem is that it ISN'T right in front of our eyes.

I remember when my sunday school teacher told us how fun it will be in heaven. She would tell us that we would get anything we wanted, run away from all our problems.

It's like she was encouraging us to die and go to heaven.

Do you think that he`s one of the leading Chrisitian apologists? Have you ever read his book "Mere Christianity?"
I was thinking about checking him out, but I really don`t want to waste my money. Is it worth it? I highly doubt that he`s going to change my mind, what I`m looking for is a good read in defense of Christianity. It`s always good to hear what the other side (as ridiculous as it might be) has to say.

Are his books worth the time and money?

Is the emerging church embracing postmodernism as a helpful aid in reaching out to what seems to be the rise of a postmodern society (especially in other cultures)? Or is the emerging church embracing postmodernism because of the belief that it makes an abundance of sense? Or is it a little bit of both?

If the second option seems to be the case, why does postmodernism make so much sense, and why does, or why should it, fit in with Christianity? Can postmodernism in combination with contemporary Christianity help revert Christianity more closely back to its first century roots? Why or why not?

What advantages do you see in the church embracing postmodernism? What disadvantages?

Should an alternative to both modernism and postmodernism be sought?

What do you think?

Humans by many means seem to have this quest for immortality. Wether through health, religion etc....Do you think jthis will lead us to our biggest destruction because we cannot come to terms with death.

If you disagree then why do we as humans try to prevent death.... To live longer ...to look younger...heaven...are not all these some indirect avoidance of death. Living longer doen not mean you live longer well with a high quality to life....Heaven if there is one then why is death still so contraindicated and viewed as so horrific if we go to some far off better kingdom...

if I chop the tree down and nail two pieces of it together in the shape of a lower case letter t, and then worship that, it is considered perfectly normal.

Today I went for a musical job at an RSL and there was a reef laying ceramony, afterwards there were various prayers all of which were christian. Isn't it just a bit rude to assume everyone is Christian or am I just being one of those paranoid idiots who take offence to anything slightly different?

I am atheist but was wondering if anyone ever felt the same way.

I tend to imagine as I breath that good comes in, and negative leaves through my mouth, and as I do this I touch the chakra I wish to purify. And imagine the negativity leaving through my hands and into my blood and up to the third eye. I do this while exerting what feels like pressure on my third eye, for when I release the pressure, I feel more relaxed and at ease, and able to concentrate. This is how I started doing it, but don't know if it is the correct method.
