I tend to imagine as I breath that good comes in, and negative leaves through my mouth, and as I do this I touch the chakra I wish to purify. And imagine the negativity leaving through my hands and into my blood and up to the third eye. I do this while exerting what feels like pressure on my third eye, for when I release the pressure, I feel more relaxed and at ease, and able to concentrate. This is how I started doing it, but don't know if it is the correct method.

As long as you are finding a way to focus, there is no real "wrong way" to meditate.. there are many methods. Your sounds like an excellent method to me. I also like to focus using a "power" word that has significance to me. Good luck with your meditations.

Meditation does not have to be something you "WORK" at. Actually, just being present in the moment is what meditation is all about. I begin by getting in a comfortable position, and begin to focus on the sounds I can hear in the room, then the feelings of warmth or cold, then how various parts of my body feel at the moment (tummy rumbling, or tightness in the neck). Try to breathe slowly and evenly, and then begin to focus on your breathing. If you start thinking about other things, slowly bring your attention back to now.

Everyone is different, of course. For me, it's best done outdoors, where there are birds or other sounds to take my mind away from everyday problems. When I begin to concentrate on those and on my breathing, I begin to move away from the stress of ordinary life.

I don't believe there is a "correct" method. If it works for YOU, that's what matters.

The best way to meditate that I've found is to take a verse from the bible and really concentrate on what God is trying to teach you with that verse. Really think about it and turn it over and over in your mind asking him what he meant by it.

You see the kind of meditation you're talking about is centered around emptying yourself and emptying your mind. But the kind of meditation that will really help you spiritually is to fill your mind with the thoughts of the one true God.

Here's a verse to get you started - what could Jesus have meant by this?

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
- Jesus speaking in Matthew 11:28-30
