Matthew 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Acts 2:38-41 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call." With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

Acts 22:16 And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.

I had heard the rumor before that the Talmud sanctioned sex between adult males and three year-olds and I just blew it off as propaganda. But today I came across this site with many, many quotes from the Talmud on the subject. I was very surprised and I'd really like some educated Jewish imput on this link. I'm not posting this to start trouble, really. I would really like to know the full story from other, Jewish points of view.

I am a Christian. Lately I have been in a situation where I am called to bless / pray before individuals or groups, prior to a meal. Audiences are not my forte. In these situations I can sometimes have a tendency sort of “forget” how to pray, or it generally comes out not so great. Anyway… I am on the lookout for any prayer recommendations or classic meal prayers etc, that I could use in such situations, whether it be on a date or in a small group. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Are you aware that your God has screwed up at least ten times (according to his own book ... the one he wrote) so badly that he repented? See Genesis 6:7, Exodus 32.14, Judges 2:18, I Samuel 15:35, II Samuel 24:16, I Chronicles 21:15, Psalm 106:45, Jeremiah 26:19, Amos 7:3, Amos 7:6 (you'll want to use the KJV to see the word "repent" or a variation thereof). Why does an omniscient God change his mind so much?

And speaking of omniscience/omnipotence ... if (a) God wants everything to be righteous and perfect and (b) God is truly omnipotent yet (c) everything is not righteous and perfect, at this very moment, even as we speak ... then there must be some other thing that God wants even more than for everything to be righteous and perfect. Any ideas on what that other thing might be?

And still speaking of omnipotence ... are you aware that the Bible itself records an incident when there was something that God COULD NOT DO? See Judges 1:19 (Biblegod can't overcome iron chariots).

my cathecism class have many questions about life after death. they ask:

how will we look?
will our family be there?
what is purgatory?
how do we get out of purgatory?
do we get our same body back?
do we grow?
what if we were in a horrible accident before we died, what will our body look like then?

I dont know how to answer them and tomorrows Gospel talks about heaven, Im sure this will come up.

a Chronic Indifference Brigade? They could identify themselves with this symbol:

[[[shrugs]]]

By the way, no offense intended to the admirable members of the Hug Brigade and what they stand for.

And just so this will be a definitely religious question, would God be a member of the Hug Brigade, or the Chronic Indifference Brigade?

I have noticed that ALL mormons that i encounter misquote or twist biblical text for their own advantage? Such as Acts 3:19-21
The context in which it is presented shows Peter and John speaking in the temple after having healed a lame man. The text in question was referring to Jesus and it was a message to the people standing in the courtyard to become Christ's followers. I dont think that it was meant that a NEW prophet was to come after.

Maybe we could throw in a few Torahs and other crap religious texts in the bonfire. Once I dumped a bunch of aftershave on a Bible and set it on fire; it burned pretty good.

I never eat the last bite of my Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese, or the last bite of my second Gordito, or even the last bite of my Triple Whopper. I always wrap it up in the paper it came in, neatly folding the edges like a little junk food origami coffin, and place it respectfully in the receptical. You know why? It is my MacSacrifice. I figure, since there are children in Africa who are starving, that if God wants to send them food, he can mail my MacSacrifice directly to them. I don't know if I should put a postage stamp on it , or not. What do you think?

I had a misscarriage this week and I just received this in a email

Why, my Lord—dare I ask why? It will not hear the whisper of the wind or see the beauty of its parents’ face—it will not see the beauty of Your creation or the flame of a sunrise. Why, my Lord?

“Why, My child—do you ask ‘why’? Well, I will tell you why.

You see, the child lives. Instead of the wind he hears the sound of angels singing before My throne. Instead of the beauty that passes he sees everlasting Beauty—he sees My face. He was created and lived a short time so the image of his parents imprinted on his face may stand before Me as their personal intercessor.

because some people who have religions look down upon atheists (we obviously don't like that...), and we shouldn't have a religion if we don't really believe it from the heart, what can we do to make this believer-and-atheist relationship work?
I think understanding is the most important, but I don't think everyone is willing and as open as others to understand each other.
And once again, I'm sorry if I offend anyone.

I believe in the Bible so this isnt a bash on the Bible or on christian beliefs, but come on people. How can you seriously look at your christian beliefs and then with a straight face call mormons crazy or in a cult???? I know my beliefs might sound a little out there to people that dont believe or fully understand them. I can admit that. Why cant you? How can you judge mormon beliefs as any more crazy then yours?

And finally, how are mormons a cult just because they dont believe the same things you do? By your own logic, then, cant mormons turn around and call your sect a cult for not believing just like them since mormons believe the church is a restoration of the original church of God and that it is YOUR sect that seriously distorted the message of God?
